This site has the roll of honour on Farcet War Memorial

http://www.roll-of-honour.com/Huntingdonshire/Farcet.html

Unfortunately Harold isn't on it but a possible brother may be.
Thank you I think my questions have all been answered thanks to you. My Grandad had 12 brothers and sisters and 2 served in the war. 1 made it home and one didn't. From your link I can now see that John Thomas French was the brother killed and Harold must have made it home, I always thought it was the other way round. It cannot be another John French, i'm pretty sure of that, so thank you for your help, i'm really grateful.xxxxxx :)

Hi Michelle and welcome to rootschat.  Do you or anyone in the family have his WW1 medals - these will have his army number and regiment engraved round the edge of each medal.  Do you have any idea when or where he died in battle?  Did Harold have a middle name?  Sorry to bombard you with questions but every little helps!  ;)
Ermy
Thank you for that, we don't have anything i'm afraid, he did not have a middle name according to the 1901 census. I'm afraid I do not know where he died either. I'm not alot of help i'm afraid!

I don't know if anyone can help me out but I am trying to find out which entry on the CWGC site is the right one for my great uncle.

I wondered if any one knows whether residents of Farcet Peterborough served in particular regiments in WW1?
I am very new to this! His name was Harold French and on the 1901 census he was 9 (age last birthday) I have used his age to try and match him with the register on the CWGC site but there are H French's with unknown ages!!! So I am a bit stuck unless I can find out his regiment.
Thanks!
