I am not sure about the link, it may be possible, my grandfathers middle name was Ellis, name after his mothers maiden name.
I am hoping to do some more research soon but have been very busy looking after ageing parents!
Such fun.

Thanks for that, my father always said there was some sort of controversy about Charles and Rose's Marriage, but it looks like it was his father who was a cradle snatcher!
Thanks again

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Lookup request
« on: Sunday 08 July 12 20:53 BST (UK)  »
As I'm unsure about what can be asked for please feel free to tell me if I am asking something that is not allowed.
I'm looking for information about My great grandfather and his parents!
His name was:
Charles Henry Carr, he was mairried to Rose Jerrim in southampton oct 31 1882 and I have a copy of his marriage certificate which says that his father was called Thomas Carr, a mast maker and he was born about 1861
His address given on the marriage certificate was 14 Rye Terrace, which I believe was Hexam, my Father told me that he came from sunderland.
I would be very gratefull if someone could have a look at the censuse of 1861, 1871 and 1881 to see if they can spot him, I did find one entry for 1871 for a Charle Henry Carr aged 9 in New Borough Prison Hedon Rd, but that persons birthplace was east riding Yorkshire so I'm not covinced its him.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for that, I'm sorry if I did cross any lines, but was unaware of the rules for the 1911 census, I would like help in tracing the Roddicks a bit further back if anyone can and is allowed to help.
I believe that Thomas Roddick's wife, Elizabeth's maiden name was Sheen But I'm not certain, if so it would be nice to find out some info about her.
I think there were other members of the Roddick family living in cardiff during and after the War(II) My father seems to remember one being the landlord of a=n old pub on the top of Rumney hill.
I think I can look into that a bit further in Cardiff Library.

One last question, is there a part of the forum that gives tips on which organisation is the best to sign up with and how to go about putting together all the info one gathers.

Thanks

Please can anyone help me, I am looking for information on Gordon James Roddick born in n Cardiff about 1902 married Winifred Eleanor Richards in 1929, my grandparents (long passed on) He worked for the western mail for many years.
I have found a 1901 census record for Ann st in canton cardiff with a family of Roddick's living there, head of household was Thomas Richards, if someone could take a look at the 1911 census and see if the same family has a son called Gordon James at about the right age I would be grateful.
Cheers

Thanks for that, I didn't realise there was a problem with looking up the census records as others have done that before!
