Thanks MaggieBlue and Aghadowey.

I live in England. If someone could look up the newspapers for me that would be fantastic.

Antrim / Belfast newspaper death notices 1934

My GG Grandfather James Chambers died 12 October 1934 in Belfast. His address at death was 11 Cable Street. Does that street still exist?

I would like to know if there are any death notices in for him in any of the Local newspapers. If I contact the papers can they look it up for me? I guess I would start with the Belfast Telegraph.

George Chambers was my Father. He married Stella Benita Clarke. He met her during WW11. She was from Tolpuddle in Dorset.

If you have lots of information on the Chambers and Grant side going back i would love to see it.

How far have you got with the book?

Hi Grantj

Thats great news. Would love to read the book when its finished.

William Grant was my Great Uncle also. His sister Margaret was my Grandmother she married William John Chambers. I have only started the family history but have already hit a brick wall.

According to the census Martin Grant would have been born 1852/53. Mary Ann Grant (nee Gibson) born around 1856. Can't find these on any of the online sites.

Martins father was also Martin. Mary Ann's father was Andrew (Got these from the marriage certificate).

Any Help would be much appreciated.

Update. I just rang Carnmoney cemetery. William grant is buried in plot AB21 Main Carnmoney Cemetery along with his wife Elizabeth. William died age 66. Elizabeth died 9 August 1940.

I think its beyond reasonable doubt that William was born 1883 and not 1877.
The newspaper bit I mentioned was just to see who had put in death notices. If any of his siblings (still alive) and compare the names to the census records.

My Grandmother Margaret was his sister but she died 1932.

Just found Williams date of birth 6th April 1883. He would have been 66 when he died. I suppose further proof that this is the correct William would be his age on his death certificate, his age on his tombstone at Carnmoney Cemetery and death notices in the local papers at the time of death (brothers and sisters in the census if still alive). To be continued.......
