Tipperary / Re: Ryan - Glenough Rossmore, Cashel ?

Hi Margo,
We are probably related somewhere along the line, but with so many . Just for information, I think that birth place you mentioned should be Toragh, a townland next to Glenough. If you 'google' maps, click on Google Maps and type in Toragh, South Tipperary, it will bring you to the glenough area. Using the Google 'street man', you can look up Toragh Lane, where a bunch of cattle are happily blocking the little road!! You can make a virtual visit to my Summer bolt-hole in Glenough by typing glenough school house into the google search box!!

Hi everyone,
Bonerea is an area beside Annacarty, which in turn is about 5 miles from Dundrum, Co Tipperary.
The Sadliers finally left Hilly Glenough a few years ago, and moved down to flatter pastures. One of the family (Jack) married the teacher from Glenough National School (probably 80 years ago), and moved initially to Dublin and then on to London.

Hi Karen,
Hope you got home safely. I was not able to find the article on Ancestry.com so maybe you could email link to me at (*) ? I have a James Chambers emigrating to US  circa 1804/5 and wonder if that is your connection. (I have another one who was subsequently shot in a duel in New York!!) I have uploaded a good amount of information on my family tree, and can let you have link if you think would be of any interest to you?
Cheers, Don

Thats great Karen, and I look forward to accessing when available. You are clearly one of the clan, and my son-in-law Richard, is the son of * Chambers from Crawfordsburn, outside Bangor. Hence the interest.
Cheers,
Don

Thats great Karen, but I presume that it is a 'read only' copy? Will the library allow it to be photocopied?
Would I need to be registered as a 'reader' to get access?
Mant Thanks,
Don

Tipperary / Re: Ahearn in Tipperary

Hi David,
Sorry but I have been away in France and only back. I did get down to Glenough, and yes, they are all the same family.
They are neither young or computer literate, and not really interested in pursuing any overseas ties. I think they may have had countless 'cousins' from Australia, calling on them over the years, and decided to opt out of the whole genealogical thing.
Sorry that the news could not be more positive.

Hi David,
I assume they are, as I think there has only ever been one ahearn family in Glenough. I hope to be down in Glenough at the weekend, so will talk to them then and revert next week.
Cheers,
Don

Down / Chambers Family of Tullynaskeagh
« on: Tuesday 17 May 11 16:19 BST (UK)  »
Hi Everyone,
I am currently researching the Chambers Family of Tullynaskeagh / motor manufacture etc. It starts with A John Chambers, arriving from Scotland in 1595, with most of the family remaining in the downpatrick area, even to the present day. I do have quite a lot of information, but it would be nice to add to it, or even to cross reference with existing information. Any help would be really appreciated.

Tipperary / Re: St Bernadettes Industrial School, Dundrum, Tipperary

Hi,
It is now actually Dundrum House Hotel, comprised of the old buildings plus some new extensions. There is a very popular golf course attached to it, and it offers very good 3 star accommodation.
Google 'Dundrum house hotel and country club' for images and all information.
