Thank you Hazel,
Some more interesting reading to look forward to. Its really bad form that the ancestors did not write down all this info for us but then we would probably find it boring.
Thank You

Thank you very much Hazel.
The photo is very much appreciated. One of the ancestors Mary Charlotte Jones married Nicholas Roskell from the same area but we are still to identify which family she did come from.

Thank you very much. How wonderful to know that the house is serviceable again .
I wonder how many ghosts of the ancestors walk those halls .We were told that Stockyn Hall was also built on medieval foundations .So the original owners of so long ago will be mingling together .
Kindest Regards

Dear Mick,
Thank you very much but someone else has already found the headstone for me and taken a picture. From what I saw and what they told me,it will be a very large job to find anyone in that cemetery. They sent me a small map of a very large area . It seems to be very overgrown etc .Our headstone was under bushes and unfortunately we could not read it .We hope yours is in better condition .
You may possibly need an elephant and a gun, and a few natives who live in the area may help to carry the  camping equipment.
Thank you very much again for you kindness and I hope you have a wonderful time looking for your relative .
Regards
Michelle from Sydney Australia

Hullo All
Our ancestor Mary Charlotte Roskell died; 28-2-1895 ,aged 77yrs. She  is buried in Old Southampton Cemetery Section B10,Grave no.170 with 4mnth old Charles Hubert Roskell (not sure as yet who he is) .
Would it be possible for anyone who takes their digital camera into this cemetery to see if there is  a headstone for Mary Roskell and take a photo of it for us .
Thank you from

Mary Roskell in the 1891 census for Civil Parish Millbrook ,lived  no 18 Carlson Road as lodger ,living on own means, born St. Alsaph Flint.
We believe this to be my husbands great great grandmother who was born Flintshire and married to Nicholas Roskell Commodore P.O. Mary Charlotte Roskell died 25-2-1895 Southampton,Hampshire . Daughter of Edward Jones .
She had children George Bernard,Wilfred Nicholas,Arthur H and Agnes Charlotte .
Is there any possibly way to find out where she may have been buried if possible .She did apparently leave a will as well .
Thank you for any help it will be gratefully received .

« on: Friday 02 June 06 02:03 BST (UK)  »
Hullo All,
Anyone interested in the Maritime history and could possibly access information for us here in Aus .
My husbands great great grandfather was Nicholas Wilfred Roskell in 1864 he was  captain of the P.O. ship Vectis (paddle) . He died ;3-9-1877 Penang Malaysia and headstone states he was a Commodore in the P.O. The Census records 1861 for All Saints Parish, Southampton have him registered as Commodore for P.O .
if anyone has access to the P.O. records and they have the time, please could you see if there is any more information on our ancestor .  Thank you for any help given it will be gratefuly received  :).

Thank You Peter ,the information is very much appreciated .
Ellen Roskell (d;1873) was the daughter of George Potts Roskell (d;1879) & Ellen Roskell (d;1900).
Elizabeth Harnett was the younger sister of George Potts Roskell .
George Potts Roskell & Elizabeth Harnett nee roskell were children of George Roskell & Mary Anne Potts from Stockyn Hall ,which the last I heard was still standing on farmland owned by a Jones family . The home still contained furniture etc but was in bad repair .  It seems a lot of history left to rot. Such a shame .
Thank You again . We hope if you come across any other Roskell headstones in the area you will be kind enough to tell us about them .
