There is an Ida Blanche WILKINS whose birth is registered in Caxton registration district in March 1900. I'm guessing this may be the person you are looking for. In the 1901 census she appears in Orwell, Cambs whixch is part of the Caxton district

I think you could be right Stan in thinking it is a job within the glass industry. When I said that Albert became a glass cutter I should perhaps have explained that he did not cut domestic glass but brilliant glass. It was an art form rather than just windows and such.

I think the difference is that a boarder just gets a bed but no food and a lodger gets fed as well.

I think I've found them. The name has been transcribed as WELSON. They are living in Hexham, can't make out the street name. There is Matthew aged 45, a lead miner, Sarah aged 35, William 10, Esther 6 and Sarah 3. They all say they were not born in Northumberland.
