That's interesting about the 1841 census. Thanks

Hi

I was looking at familysearch.org and on two family members it gave me birth and Bap/Christening dates as different dates. It was only William that the date was the same so I assumed he died soon after birth plus he wasn't on the next census record.

I can't find a death record for William Roberts b 1.2.1821 and bapised on the same day but he doesn't appear on the next census in 1841.

Is there somewhere else I could look? I've been looking on familysearch.org

If I've found births on familysearch.org with the same indexing project number and source film number does that mean they are definitely related?

How can I then view that source to see if there is any more information?

Shropshire / Re: Inn Keeper 1851 John Roberts

Hi Claire

Thankyou so much for looking, it's not the John Roberts I'm looking for as he was born 1823 but I feel there has to be a connection.

I have found a number of Roberts in the town, from the Directory for Shropshire in 1851 trading. What I don't understand is John says on all census records that he was a compositor but there was no Roberts in that line of work.

I found a Thomas Roberts in the Plough, Abbey Foregate
Mary Roberts possibly John's mother as a Baker
David Roberts     Hop & Seed Merchant
Henry                 Hosier
Charles               Shoe boot maker
Edward                      ditto
John                          ditto
Hannah               Butcher
David                  Clothes Dealer
William                Fruiterers
Joseph                Furniture Broker
Edward                Provisions, Sundries & Groceries
Henry                                 ditto
Edward                Draper
Edward                Tailor & Woollen Drapers
Evan                    Veterinary Surgeon

What I would love to do is tie these together as an extended family.

As I said above Mary Roberts could have been John's mother.
His fathers name was William from the 1841 census
Edward a brother born 1816
and Ann his sister born 1821

Shame the census at that time doesn't say the profession!!

Kind Regards

Pat

World War Two / Army records

Can you advise me the best site to look up army records. I think I've found my Grandfather on forcesreunited.org.uk but is this a good site?

Also can anyone tell me what my grandfather would have done in France, he went 14 May 1940 and came back 24 June 1940? He was a Pioneer in the 2nd World War, as he was really too old and I was told it was to do with the evacuation of Dunkirk.

Shropshire Lookup Requests / Roberts family
« on: Monday 09 May 11 08:07 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking into the Roberts family in Shrewsbury. I've found a lot of Roberts in business in the town in 1850/1851 but is there a parish register so you can print off all the Roberts and find there connection if any to each other?

Can you help?
I'm looking for the birth records of Albert & Dorothy Roberts born Kingston. They are not on the 1911 census, there is also a birth for Edward in 1915 so couldn't be that year. I've been looking on Genes Reunited site and haven't had any luck. There mother's maiden name is Oldis.
