Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: Elizabeth Cawood c1783
« on: Thursday 29 January 09 22:29 GMT (UK)  »
Thankyou Vicky, I didn't know about the newspaper story but I found out from the death certs about the Rowling connection as the young Catherines mother was present at death.
I will chase up on the Leeds Mercury just as interest.

A bit of useless info, at an agricultural show I came across a pie stall. Voakes Pies of Whixley. Turns out it is Whixley Grange farm owned by Elizabeth and Sarah.

Thankyou for your help. Margaret

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Elizabeth Cawood c1783

Elizabeth c1783 was a single mother and lived on Whixley Grange farm with sister Sarah (census 1841).
I am stuck at this point. I think her father may be Richard and her grandparents Richard and Sarah. Is there anyone out there that can help verify this.

Going round to the back door another Richard and Catherine took over the farm after their deaths and I have been able to establish this Richard is a  second cousin.
I am inundated with Richards ???

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Re: Whitham family
« on: Tuesday 23 December 08 19:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there, I was just browsing the Whitham name whe I came across your post. It seems you are researching my family. I am a direct descendant of Phillip and Susanna comind down through his son Charles. Allen/Harry has always baffled me and what really interests me is the mention of Emily. Could this be my aunt? PLEASE get in touch

Derbyshire / Re: Thomas Frith 1774
« on: Monday 31 December 07 12:04 GMT (UK)  »
Thankyou very much for your reply. The information I have so far is=
IGI-  Thomas Frith, spouse Amy Brittlebank. Banns: 16th Feb 1801 Eyam Derbys.

There is no trace of a Thomas born in Eyam 1774 but I have found one in Hathersage born to Benjamin/Ann Frith July 10th 1774.
I was told that young men went to the village of their intended and lived there so as to marry in that parish. I do appreciate your help and hope you can connect this. Regards Margaret

I am trying to find the birth place of Thomas Frith 1774. He married Amy Brittlebank 1801 in Eyam. The only one I can find is a Thomas born in Hathersage. Does anyone have access to parish registers or any info to see if this is the one.

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: William Cawood-Otley

Thankyou Cybermouse, my Cawoods moved to Kirkstall then Bradford around that time. I dont have an Edwin.
However if your Cawoods are traceable to Otley do you have Elizabeth there, I am guessing she may have been born between 1795 and 1801. She was a single mother to my William born 1816

The Anglican church is All Saints on Kirkgate/Burras Lane.
