Dublin / Charles Harris Jeweller Dublin around 1850
« on: Sunday 31 March 24 10:40 BST (UK)  »
Looking for help to find information on Charles Harris a Jeweller in Dublin.  His daughters Victoria and  Annie were born in Dublin in 1847, 1850 (source UK 1871 census living in Hackney London) and wife was Maria (or Marie)  b Liverpool 1800.  I have him in a Dublin Directory, date unknown.  I cannot find any trace of him apart from the directory entry and a reference to him being deceased in a newspaper notice of the marriage of his daughter Annie in 1871, or his marriage to Maria or births of his daughters.  There is a possibility that he was Jewish.  Any help or suggestions very welcome.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Settlement 1720 Sussex

Thanks all who have replied so quickly.  Its so useful to get outside opinion.  You are right it does say Dunsfold, I think it must have been incorrectly titled by the Sussex record office and I will ask them about it.
But your input has been invaluable.  Thank you so much.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Settlement 1720 Sussex

I would appreciate help with deciphering the attached Sussex settlement certificate for William Pennicod.  I can make out some of it but not all.  I am also unclear as to where he is moving from and to?  The document is archived as a Kirdford parish document but it sems to refer to Lindfield, which is a nearby parish.  Thank you for your help.

London and Middlesex / help with a disappearing twin
« on: Thursday 16 July 20 18:16 BST (UK)  »
I am doing research for a friend who was a twin but has no idea what happened to the twin, her brother, his birth is registered at Lewisham hospital as was hers but the family never mentioned him.  I cannot find a death record.  This was on October 1946.  The birth certificates do not mention that they were twins.  I speculate he was disabled or put up for adoption but would be grateful for any thoughts on what else might have happened and how to find out?
Thank you Lewin

Thank you both, I thought it was William but that’s what I wanted it to be!  Thank you for the confirmation that I wasn’t imagining it.

Dear Lovely handwriting experts
Help please in reading this entry from the Woodbury Devon parish register of 1567.  The entry in question is the 8th from the top, surname Mabell.  The first name has mostly been obliterated but there are traces left.  By comparing these traces with some other entries, I have come to a view on what the first name is, but it is the name I want it to be, and sometimes you see what you want to believe!  So I would appreciate some unbiased opinions on what the whole entry reads.
Thank you so much.

Devon / Re: HINE/DYBLE in Littleham

The Henry Hines who married Hannah Davey Stratchley in Exeter in 1817 is shown as a stonemason so good chance this is your ancestor.  I have a few ancestral lines from Littleham and some of them married in Exeter so its not uncommon.  The image of the marriage is on FindMyPast.  The Davey in her name should help you to trace her back.
