If no luck - try searching for Farmer Davis b 1815 Wolverhampton Staffordshire - same page as the Heslops

Ah..... found it!!!!! The original isn't too clear which is probably why it isn''t showing up on the search.

You're a star CaroleW - thanks again, much appreciated  :)

Keyboard86 - will do and thanks.

It's odd.... as I search in FindMyPast under the address search in 1861 it shows the addresses upto 299 Stretford Road then jumps to 304 Stretford Road no 300 Stretford Road listed - strange  ???

1861 for 300 Stretford Rd Chorlton - all b Manchester unless shown otherwise

Robert Heslop 39 surgeon b Galgate Lancaster
Susannah 32
Robert Clayton   11
Frederick Albert 4
Jessie Louisa   1
William John   8

plus servants

Jane Martin 21 b Ireland
Emily Lamb 35 b Yorks Sowerby
Eliza Ann Stack 20 (can't decipher birthplace)
RG9 Piece 2892 Folio 63 Page 3

Is he perhaps Hislop on FindMyPast?

CaroleW - thank you, thank you, thank you  :)
This has been driving me nuts lol that is indeed the family I'm looking for.....
Yeah I tried all the variants for Heslop but he still wasn't coming up, can't understand why FindMyPast wasn't showing him.

Once again thank you - I can sleep tonight now  ;D ;D

Hi - I'm trying to find a Frederick Albert Heslop b. 1857 (Manchester) in the 1861 census.  I have subscription to Find My Past but he's not showing up in my searches there; however he is showing up in a search on Ancestry (which i don't have a subscription to).  I'm trying to find out who else was in the household with him - I'm hoping it will show a Robert (father) and a brother (also Robert).

Also, just wondering why he would show on Ancestry and not on FindMyPast search results??

Thanks

Not the Scots Guards  Kaz, but The Lancashire Fusiliers going by the cap badge, can you give us a name at all?

OR.

Thanks OR.
Well now that's thrown the proverbial spanner in the works. Not sure who in the family was in the Lancs Fusiliers.
My Gt Grandfather Gale Heslop was definately in the Scots - I have a copy of his medal records confirming that along with memories of my Gt Gran telling me how he took her on their first date dressed in his Scots Guards uniform (ahhh...  :) ).

Totally at a loss now - I know he had brothers so maybe one of those is in this picture.

Hi all (hope this is the right place for my post),

I have come across an old photo given to me years back - I think it includes my Gt Grandfather but wondered if anyone might recognise the uniform.
I am reliably informed that he was in the Scots Guards, could this be the Scots Guards uniform in the photo?
I've tried to get a close up of the insignia on the caps but unfortunately too close makes it a blur.

Can anyone help???

Thanks.

Sandra many thanks I'll go have a look at those links.

When you mention you "Noticed a family tree for James Gale Heslop", is that information from the History of Cambria site mentioned earlier or is there something I'm missing (the head is hitting the brick wall now lol) as I've managed to work out James Gale's descendants from that Cambria site.

As for his birth details, it does indeed give an exact date but I can't seem to cross reference it on either Find My Past or familysearch.org ::)

Hi - Thanks Sandra.

Yes that's the site!!!  The name Gale is the big connection in my family (lots of lads had/have this name)  James Gale Heslop's son Gale would have been my x5 Great Grandfather's nephew (hope you can follow that!!!! - I know what I mean anyway  ;D).

James Gale Heslop (b.1797) and Gale Heslop (b.1796 - my x5 G.Grandfather) both show parents as Robert and Ann Heslop (nee Benning) but even over here in England I can't find reference to James Gale's birth (the birth years are so close I'm wondering if they were twins????).

But it is his his marriage to Charlotte Bracewell in the US that I'm trying to find official records on.

Thanks again.  :)
