Dublin / Re: Help with marriage 1833 Christ Church

Thank you for your reply. The verbal family history is that Joseph Spunner PALMER was a Protestant and he was disowned for marrying a Roman Catholic; but Joseph seems to be a Roman Catholic name.  I have no confidence in verbal family history.  They were married in a Roman Catholic Church in East Maitland, NSW, Australia.

Australia / Joseph Spunner PALMER arrival in N.S.W.
« on: Sunday 30 September 12 00:17 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find the arrival details of Joseph Spunner PALMER born 1816 (Ireland) died 23Oct1868 in a drowning accident at East Maitland.  It was around 1842.  Can someone help with this.
His death certificate has married Mary QUIN at "CHRIST CHURCH DUBLIN" in 1833 - (and my research has marrying again 20Nov1843 at St Josephs Roman Catholic Church, MAITLAND) - (V1843400 123/1843 PALMER JOSEPH S QUINN MARY LK).
Children Jane 1834, Letitia 1837, Salina 1839 and George 1841 were born in Ireland.  The Death Certificate has:
"Children of Marriage": JANE 34, LETITIA 30, GEORGE 26, ROBERT 24, AMELIA 20, WILLIAM 18, EMILY 16, ANNABELLA 14, LIVING; 2 FEMALES DECEASED; and
PLACE OF BIRTH:   GALWAY IRELAND
TIME IN AUST COLONIES:   ABOUT 26 YEARS IN THIS COLONY

The next child Robert Oliver PALMER was born 25Jul1843 at West Maitland NSW(the registration shows his mother as Jane but Mary Quin used both Mary and Jane).

On Trove he was an Immigration Agent and Poundkeeper.

Australia Lookups completed / Trangie NSW lookup HERRIDGE Completed
« on: Wednesday 08 August 12 02:46 BST (UK)  »
I would be grateful if someone visiting Trangie General Cemetery can help me with this problem:
On the Austcemindex there is the following:
Herridge   Harry      21 Aug 1958   61y   née Ryan; w/Percy R
(the headstone doesn't have that information)
Harry Blake HERRIDGE was the Brother in law of Pauline Mary RYAN

The headstone for Pauline Mary Ryan doesn't have "née Ryan; w/Percy R" on it.

I am still researching the Herridge family of Gin Gin, Trangie and trying to find Pauline's ancestors.

Query: is there another headstone nearby with the "née Ryan; w/Percy R" on it?
(Where did the info on Austcemindex come from?)

Australia / Help, DOD: Ann SNELL/COAD/BRENNAN
« on: Saturday 21 July 12 08:17 BST (UK)  »
For years I have been trying to trace the death of my 2nd Great Grandmother Ann SNELL born 1815 Truro, CORNWALL.
The various Family Trees have her death as: 18th February 1902, but no "town" etc is listed.
Ann SNELL married Thomas COAD who died 1850 Truro, CORNWALL.
She married John BRENNAN 7/7/1856 at Truro; and they migrated to Australia 1857 on the "Plantagenet" (under the surname BRANNAN).
There is no record NSW BDM of her death as SNELL, COAD or BRENNAN.  Her daughters are buried at Narromine (Mary Jane BROGDEN) and (Eleanor BURGE).
Is there anywhere that I can search by date?

Australia Lookups completed / Re: How do I research for ships crew 1840?
« on: Friday 08 June 12 01:33 BST (UK)  »
Thanks everyone for your assistance.
I have the "history" but I am now "verifying" the history.  It's been a long journey and there are family trees on sites that include my ancestors (in error) and there are names on NSW BDM that were transposed incorrectly such as Edward became Edwin, Clarice became Clarence.
I have the names and dates and places but as in Daniels case, I am trying to verify why he changed his name from BUDGE to BURGE and the jump ship story.
I have found a web site run by well known company that appears to have the info I need and I will pay for the details.

According to family history, Daniel BUDGE arrived in Australia at Sydney on 9/11/1840 aboard the barque "Royal Consort"; and he was the ship's carpenter.  Can someone offer guidance on how I can research and confirm that he was a member of the crew and that he was a ship's carpenter?
(He married Elizabeth Matilda RICHARDS who was a passenger on the "Royal Consort").

Unwanted Birth, Marriage, Death Certs N to S / Re: unwanted marriage cert. Peddle.Dix
« on: Saturday 28 January 12 09:32 GMT (UK)  »
Do you know of the 2 convicts on your line? No, heaven forbid, my Aunty Mary is 90 years old in April and it could be the death of her!!!  Convicts in the BUDGE/BURGE line???  Can you please send me the details.

It was told to my mother by her father that Aunty Martha had the family bible.  Were we lucky enough for it to have survived the years? I haven't any knowledge about this.  All I can remember is that years ago I came across a chat forum record where a female had posted a reply that her mother - Ann Roberts had the family bible at "Timberbongie" ??? (my memory is an issue here) but I will contact the ladies in Narromine and see if they know of it (they haven't mentioned it!!!  but that means nothing - I communicate regularly with:
the nephew of the Husband of Martha Tanswell and he only gives up information when questioned!!! - figure that out: I correspond with the son of the brother-in-law of Martha Tanswell!!!! and she died 30 Dec 1962!!!

I always double check everything; so with regard to the Tanswell work I have only "finalised" Martha, Rose, Thomas and Emily - wouldn't have wanted to be last to arrive at the dinner table with that family - got 7 more siblings to check.

Will get back to you re the bible; let me know about the convicts.

(As an aside: my cousin in Dubbo asked me to check his Ancestors and I did; and replied to him that I am related to Royalty thru him: he is an ancestor of a First Fleet Convict - who was 12 as in twelve years old - Thomas Akers thus "Australian Royalty" and - also - he is a descendant of King William Ryan of the Wiradjuri tribe of Jerilderie).  Wonder if that made him happy??? Haven't talked to him since I sent the info.

My tree connection relates to
(1) Martha TANSWELL and her Husband James BURGE born 1876 - my Grand Uncle;

(2) George ROBERTS married my Grand Aunt.

(GGF Richard Leslie STEPHENS) My Great Grandfather's daughter Esther STEPHENS married George ROBERTS - Ann ROBERTS brother

(GGF James BURGE born 1848) My Great Grandfather's son married Martha TANSWELL; daughter of Thomas Cornelius TANSWELL and Ann ROBERTS.

I guess the Cornelius in Thomas TANSWELL's name comes from his mother's father, Cornelius PEDDLE.

If you have received the marriage certificate could you send it to me? It has been interesting researching Cornelius PEDDLE born 1821 whose picture is herewith.

My research profile shows my interests.  I am collecting "convicts" also - sort of - seeing how many convicts are in my tree and extended tree.
