Northamptonshire / Re: Underwood, Yardley Hastings

I have some Underwood's connected to my Minney line. I would definitely recommend the website by Norman Tew.

I have an Underwood related to a Minney who killed a John Dunkly, and then was transported to Tasmania.

Hello there. I am researching my partners family line. He is an underwood and decended from George (1841) and Ann Minney (1840). Is this the family you are referring too. Im just curious to know if they are related to the James Underwood of the Murder.

Ive only been looking at the tree for 3 weeks so its really new to me

Thanks.

I've been trying to track an ancestor, who was born in the USA according to all his subsequent census entries (no idea where) but can not find him or either of his parents on any record either travelling too or from america. Also unable to find UK birth record for him so can not prove he was not born in America. I've not used immigration records before and could really use some help?

Thank you all for these replies, Ive only just logged back in and seen them, Im so sorry its been so long.

Thanks Jeannie R, I did indeed mean that Thomas has married Mary Ann Distin, I just badly phrased the part about his father. I have come across that 1851 census return before but with no other info Im reluctant to follow it. Daisy, Im going to give the birth reference a shot and order the certificate. Our Thomas has a history of changing his date of birth to suit his needs. The reason I believe he was born in St Peters Parish is that was what he gave in his military records and also on several census returns.

Thanks for all your help

This is really cheeky but I don't suppose anyone would do a look up for me at the library. My Mum lives in Newport but has no idea what a microfiche is let alone to use one?

Im looking for any newspaper information from the Newport Newspaper dated around the 1st June 1964 regarding the suicide of my Great Great Grandmother Rosalie Kate Willis.

Would be really greatful.

Many Thanks

I've hit a brick walll with my ancestor Thomas Hughes (born in St. Peters Parish, Bristol) 1848). I know his father was John as his marriage certificate tells us but we cannot find a birth record or a christening record for him. He was married to Mary Ann Distin and his occupation was labourer (Docks) and Brewers Labourer. We know that lots of the parish records were destroyed in Bristol in WWII. I have all the census information for him but im uable to trace any further back. Does Thomas belong to anyone else tree?

Also trying to trace his eldest son, Thomas (1871) who married Sarah Jane Watkins (1871) and had two children, Thomas Albert (Albert Thomas (christening record is different to birth record) 1896) and Mabel Elsie (1894). Living in Houton Street, Bristol in 1911. Where did they go?
