Thank you.
I started off with Heziah, which I think is a male name, but I think based on what I saw somewhere, possibly Free reg I changed it to Keziah and female. Thank you for the information about Sarah.
I hope you don't mind but I think I might be asking more questions as I try to unravel the Tonks family history, John and Emma's son Reuben was my great grandfather so I think we are related.
Best wishes

John Tonks married Emma Beddall 1828. John was a boatman. They had 9 (nine) children. Four died young. Two, Reuben (1852) and William (1837) I have traced. Three children, Mary(1833), John(1835) & Susanna (1849), I have little or no information. I found Susanna in 1861.

Hi

I realise this is rather an old thread, but I wanted to just check this. I have only been able to find eight children for John Tonks and Emma Beddall, probably due to my novice searching skills.
I have Keziah (1830–1835)
Mary (1833–1922)
John (1835–1880)
William (1837–1900)
Joseph (1839–1839)
Ann Maria (1843–)
Susanna (1849–)
Reuben (1852–1924)
would anyone by able to help me to track down number nine please. thank you

Thank you for your advice re ordering the birth cert ificate I didd this and found the following. I know it was a little while ago but I thought I'd let you know the outcome.

Child: Ellen Wilson b 1865
Mother: Ann Wilson
Father: non named

It certainly seems that the same Ann later went on to marry Robert Jones and  her mother ended up living with them. Meanwhile I suppose we will never know who Ellen's father was!!! and as you suspected put a false father on the marriage certificate

thanks again for your help
 :)

Thank you for all your help so far....  I wasn't sure whether to make the leap from Ellen to Eleanor or not when I was checking,
I've sent for the birth certificate so I'll see what that brings, It would be nice if those records still fit as they take me back a couple more generations. Ellen definately had William as her father on the marriage certificate.
meanwhile I think I'm quite confused!   ;) ??? ;)

Denbighshire / Ellen Wilson b Gresford 1865

Please could someone help me. I'm trying to trace Ellen Wilson born according to the 1891 and 1901 census records in Gresford Denbighshire in about 1865.
First child Robert W Richards was also born in Gresford according to the 1891 and 1901 censuses.
I have a marriage certificate  to John Edward Richards, which took place in Nottingham and  gives her father's name as William Wilson, occupation gardener.
I've been unable to find the Wilson family in the 1871 or 1881 census. I found an Eleanor Wilson but she living with a grandparent. and I don't know how to proceed, can anyone help please? Thank you
