Hi Val

James Gamble and Martha McGregor are my 3 times great grandparents.  My 2 times great grandmother was Elizabeth Gamble who was born around a year after Martha Annie Gamble.  We know where Elizabeth Gamble is buried (in Glasgow) and we put some flowers down for her about twice a year.

From what my Gran told us, my Mum remembers and I've been able to find out, Martha and William had 3 children, James (who had children Ruth and Lynnie), Alex (who married Rita) and Martha.  I might have got this slightly mixed up and I'm sure you and my Mum can put me right ....  Somebody died of burns?

We lost touch with our Canadian McGregor cousins sometime ago and my Mum is so excited that we could be back in touch.  The last time my Mum saw our Canadian McGregor cousins was in 1979 or so when Alex and Rita McGregor visited my parents house near Dunfermline in Fife, Scotland.  Mum thinks that Alex continued to write to my Gran after that but my Gran has now been dead for almost 6 years.

My Mum would really like to visit Ballymoney at some point because we were told lots of stories about it by my Gran but every time we consider a coach trip to Northern Ireland, more trouble appears on the news so it puts us off.  You're obviously braver than we are.  Is there anyway we could see even a few of your photos of Ballymoney?  I believe we've got a few Canadian McGregor photos because I think my Granda was posted there during WW2.  My Auntie has those photos and they're a bit fragile.

Val we would really love to get back in touch with our Canadian cousins - please e-mail me direct at *

Take care.

So good to be in touch again.

Jacqueline

Hi

Thank you for your note.

I do however have Michael and Catherine's marriage certificate and they were both Caddens.

Hi

Thank you so much for your rapid reply.

May I ask how you found the info so quickly?

(I have info from the 1901 and 1911 Irish censuses, a little info from some certificates bought in dublin a few years ago and some family stories but I know very little else abut Irish research.)

Jacqueline.

Hi

Is anyone else researching the Cadden family living in Eshekerin, Fermanagh.  I can trace my ancestry back to Michael Cadden who married Catherine Cadden.

Thanks

Jacqueline
