I don't know if it is right to post a look up request here as I asked for help elsewhere on this forum. But here goes.
I am doing research into our Family Tree and I have a death certificate for Christopher Halpin who died at Hackney Hospital on 17/03/1978. His date of birth was given as January 1894 in Ireland. He was a retired Carpenter from 45 Rendlesham Road, Clapton, E5.The informant was Edward Halpin, son of 34 Glenhill Park, Finglas Road, Dublin, (Ireland) Edward died in the 1980s in Camden. The address in Dublin was that of his brother.
Christopher Halpin went over to England about 1929/30 and never went back to Ireland.
There may have been newspaper announcements of his death. Can anyone who has access to newspapers help with a search please.

It is not known by the family where he is buried. According to the Mortuary Register of Hackney Hospital the Undertaker was Kendal’s. Kendal’s no longer exists; it was taken over by T. Cribbs some time ago. We have asked Cribbs if they still have Kendal’s records, but they were disposed of around the time they took over I'm afraid.
His remains were nor brought back to Ireland for burial.
We would be grateful for any help that anyone can give us or if you could suggest where we could look.
Thank you for your time.

The cause of Christopher's death was entered as below.
1 6y Broncho pneumonia
(b) Chronic Bronchitis.
2 Chronic Renal Failure secondary to
Chronic Pyelonephritis
Ischaemic Heart disease.
Certified by R. H. Jones. M. B. B.S
Date of registration. 22/03/1978.

Thank you for your time.

Hi, Thank youall for your quick replies.
Edward died in London about 11 years later! I have since found out the address he gave was that of his brother in Dublin who has also passed away so there is no information forthcoming in that quarter.
Christopher was living in England since 1929/30 but it is not known where.
There is a family story that he is buried in a paupers grave somewhere in London.
According to theHackney Hospital Mortuary Register, the Undertaker was Kendal’s. Kendal’s no longer exists; it was taken over by T. Cribbs some time ago. Cribbs have asked if they still have Kendal’s records, but they were disposed of around the time they took over I'm afraid.
I doubt if there was any newspaper announcement of his death. If anyone has access to English papers could they have a look.
Any further help or suggestions would be gratefully received.

Hi, Does the "1st Prize Driver" badge indicate that he won a first prize in a competition or was given a 1st Class Driver Award for his proficiency?
Have you got an image of the badge?
Cheers
Joe

Hi Gortonboy, Well spotted. My mistake is that I had just been looking at my granddad's son's record in the RIF, Albert Condon, born 1892.
Yes, the uniform in the photo is the RHA.
My grandad was indeed born in Cork in 1862. I have Baptism Certificate.
Are we related in some way?

Hi, Can anyone tell me what the markings are on the sleeves of the Royal Irish Fusiliers uniforms in the attached photo? That's my Grandfather sitting in the middle. There is a symbol on his left arm and he has no stripes. The other two have one stripe on their right arm and the guy on the right has a second one on his left arm. I also noticed the top two have what looks like a bird in flight on the caps. Their caps seem to be a little different to my Grandfather's.
What do these all mean?
Cheers
Joe

Hi Carol, Since I posted I have seen a photo of Nth Earl St. taken in 1850 and the clock is visible but not King's.
I looked at the 1908 Thom's Directory and T. King. Photographer. 5 North Earl Street is listed. I see the same entry in Thom's for 1916. (Published in Dec 1915!)
The photo is attached. Hope you can see it.
The soldier's cap badge has been identified as Royal Irish Fusiliers. Have no other information on it.
Thank you for your help.

Hi Shane,
Thank you for your time and effort.
I already did a check in Thom's 1908 and he was not there. I have just looked in Thom's 1916 and the entry is the same as in 1914.
I wonder if he would show up in Thom's 1909, 1910, '11, '12 or 13?
Anyone out there got access to these books?
Cheers
Joe
