Cumberland Lookup Requests / PATTISON/REAY MARRIAGE
« on: Friday 17 June 05 13:01 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help or advise?

I'm trying to find proof of a marriage, with the date and place.

Arthur Pattison and Mary Reay were married between 1847 and 1849, but do not appear on the GRO Index.

After marriage they lived at Halfway Houses, London Road, Carlisle and had children.

Mary Reay gave Carlisle as her place of birth on census returns.  Arthur was born in Co. Durham, but was living in Carlisle at the time of the marriage. His first wife had recently died in Carlisle.

They moved to Tynemouth, Northumberland about 1858, where Mary died in 1862.

"Pattison" is the correct spelling, but it is interesting to note that in Carlisle this quite often became "Pattinson" and later in Northumberland: "Patterson"

Hope someone can help.

Rob

Hello Doreen

I've looked on the Newcastle Register Office website and can only find two births for Joseph Ritchie: 1838 and 1866.

You can check the site yourself:

Hello Al

Thanks for all that hard work.

I can only hope that his Army/Chelsea Pensioner records have the information I'm seeking.

I think I had better start planning a trip to Kew!

Thanks again.

Hello Al

I would appreciate that very much.

Joseph gave Nuneaton as his place of birth on the 1851 Census.

He was discharged from 1st Dragoon Guards at the age of 43, and the online record also gives Nuneaton as his place of birth.

Thanks for all your help.

Hello Claire

There are two churches of St Anthony in the Walker/St Anthony's area of Newcastle upon Tyne:

1.  St Anthony of Egypt (Church of England), Belmont Street.  This is near Pottery Bank;

2.  St Anthony of Padua (Roman Catholic), Church Street/Welbeck Road.

Wallsend is a different town, adjoining Walker and is part of North Tyneside MBC.

Hope this helps.

Can anybody help?

I'm looking for details of the baptism of Joseph Fairfax, born in Nuneaton, between 28 January 1792 and 27 January 1793.
