I was delighted to read this tread as it helped to fill in some gaps into my research on the O'Kelly/Kelly  side.

My area of interest is the Kelly/O'Kelly's of Wicklow, Carlow & Kildare starting with brothers William Kelly (Rathvilly/Baltinglass) & Michael Kelly (Talbotstown) so the info on Ardnehue and especially the connection between Muriel Emilia Carmela O'Kelly and Michael Joseph Xavier Kelly was important to me....see attached marriage image

The documented info I have so far on the Ardnehue Kelly's as follows and would love to find out more about Muriel & Michael, where they set up home and their business mentioned.

James Kelly 1847 - 1889
Anne Kelly Doyle 1850 - 1923
Michael Joseph Xavier 1882 - ?
John Patrick 1883 - ?
James William 1884 - 1905
Paul 1885 - ?

I am currently submitting a document to Wicklow County Council for a memorial plaque in honour of E P O'Kelly in Baltinglass (my GG GRANDAD) which I hope to unveil at a family reunion in the future.

Just as a note on the reason we have Kelly/O'Kelly variants in the family.
Most Irish names were subject to Anglicisation under British rule and some families chose to take back the O' and this was done by E.P Kelly on his release from Kilmainhaim Gaol in 1882 where he was interned under the coercion act 1881 and so he got married as E.P O'Kelly.

Hi All

I am David O'Kelly, my father is * O'Kelly (81) From Baltinglass. His father and mother were Edward John O'Kelly & Katharine (O'Toole) O'Kelly and his father was EP O'Kelly. We have many pics and memorabilia for EP including the silver trowel that laid the foundation stone to the McAllister/Dwyer monument in Baltinglass and the silverware that he was presented with on his release from Kilmainham for his part in the land league struggle with Parnell and his associates.

It so happens that we are organizing an EP O'Kelly Clan Gathering in Baltinglass in July of 2014.

I am in the process of setting up a Facebook event to keep all informed and reach out to all interested parties in Australia etc..

Seems you have found some extended family, my grandfather is the same Thomas Fitzpatrick from Mullingar ( I have attached a pic from the 70's at Palermo). He passed away in 1981 at the grand old age of 94. He had 7 children. The extensive lands and house were sold in 1982 to a developer and there is a housing estate called Old Conna Wood built there now. My granny Kathleen died a few years back and her sister Eithne only passed last year. Thomas had many business interests including a coach works at Palermo from where he started the first Wicklow to Enniskerry bus route. Later on he developed a leather goods business at Palermo from where he mainly produced gloves. He also owned lands at Enniskerry, a site on Ormonde Quay and several houses on the Sundrive Road in Crumlin.

The funny thing is that I am actually writing this from my in-laws in Mullingar, as I married a girl from here and I was always interested to know where in Mullingar Thomas lived.

I look forward to your reply and would be really interested to know about your side of the family

I was delighted to see this tread as I always wanted to know the history of Palermo prior to my grandparents (Fitzpatrick's) purchasing the estate in the late 50's.

I spent much of my childhood on the estate where the families of all seven children used to gather most Sunday's until its sale and subsequent demise in the early 80's.

Daisy, I would be interested to know your families name, as my family most likely purchased Palermo from your family.

I have plenty of photos of the old place if you would like to see some and it would be great if either of you have any also.
