I looked back through the thread and noticed that the other lady posted her direct e-mail address, so feel free.

Stephen.

I'm sure it wouldn't actually upset them! Anyhow, having noticed the option, I attach the memoir; look forward to sending some photos (perhaps you could give me some idea of which to send first).

Hi again Jenny. OK, though they may not approve.

Hi Jenny. I'm not terribly used to using this format, and the system's being a bit cranky following my return to Windows 7. In the first instance, I'll send my mother's memoir (which, if I hadn't mentioned, I put together from her handwritten notes).
[Actually I can't, because they say it's too long. Therefore, we need to be in touch by direct e-mail. I hereby give permission for RootsChat to send you my e-mail address.]

    Regards,
                 Stephen.

I'll try to get back to you asap, though as to the memoir I may have to find a print-out or wade though some floppy discs (time I sorted it anyhow). I suppose you should be grateful she didn't marry any man named Bott!...you've probably heard it before.

Hi. Thanks. My late mother did some notes on her time at Way House from 1922, from which I compiled a memoir. If you are interested I can send it, though some digging out may be needed. I also have a group photo, from perhaps around 1927, with quite a number of girls in costume. I'm reminded that it's high time I scanned it.

Hello all of the above. My mother, as Marjorie Eileen Brown, arrived at Way House in 1922, aged five. She had been born on the wrong side of the blanket, to a merchant-class mother, who was from the Winchester area, though the birth was registered in Plumstead. I want to find out where Marjorie was in the intervening period. I shall follow up the leads above. My mother wrote down her memories of being there, and I should be happy to e-mail them to anyone who might be interested.
     Good seeking.

        Stephen.

Thanks Igor. If I had a manservant, I should insist on his being named so!  Moreover, I never tire of Sacre du Printemps.

You did right of course, Mrs T.. I'm trying to locate my maternal grandmother's grave (hoping she has one). If successful, should I take a flower/flowers along?  I never knew her; nor did my mother, though had she been kept I should surely never have existed in this particular body....
