I have been told by a family member that James Duncan, brother of Thomas Duncan, Sr. Died on May 5, 1877 in Metcalfe, Osgoode Township, not 1889 as previously thought. I doubt that his obituary would mention his nephew Thomas Duncan, Jr, but one never knows. Peggy

according to his death certificate, James Duncan, half-brother to Thomas Duncan, died in the Town of Oxford, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia on Sept 17, 1920. Perhaps his obituary would mention his half-brother Thomas born Nov 20, 1844 in Ontario, Canada. James was born Dec 22, 1836.

William Sarsfield York, mentioned in the obit of Sarsfield York, 1899, died in Highland Park, Lake County, Illinois on Sept 26, 1935. He is buried with his brother George Frederick York who died in 1943 in Los Angeles and their sister Lila Elizabeth who died in 1955. The three of them were living in Highland Park in 1930 and all were single.

Further research has revealed that Sarsfield York was married 3 times. Firstly to Mary Ann Simpson abt 1851, and Mary Ann died May 6, 1864. Secondly to Jane Morrow abt 1865, Jane died May 20, 1880. Thirdly to Sarah Jane Duncan on Feb 19, 1883, whom he predeceased in 1899. Sarah Jane and Sarsfield did not have any children together.
Of the children involved, George Frederick York died Apr 8, 1943 in Los Angeles. Ruth married James Murray Montgomery and died Oct 5, 1955 in Highland Park, Lake County, Illinois.

I didn’t find Mary Ann MacMullen Duncan in Beechwood but in Toledo Presbyterian Cemetery. Must have been buried near a child.

Thanks very much for obits, Sandra. The article about Robert Duncan was not mentioned previously but by family history Thomas did have a brother James who also came to Canada so I would bet that you have found him and his wife. Great, good going. Peggy

Thanks Sandra. I guess brother Thomas will remain elusive. Peggy

I figured out that Samuel's daughter, whose home he died at in 1932, was Edna Mary, married to Roland James Elliott. Edna Mary died Jan 11, 1994 in Ontario, Canada.
Alexander James Duncan died Apr 18, 1916 in Toronto, Ontario. Perhaps his obit would mention his half-brother Thomas Duncan. Alexander married Jane Barry Feb 18, 1862 in the Presbyterian Church in Ottawa. Jane died May 21, 1915 in Ottawa.

Thank you Sandra for all these wonderful obits. With the large families that they had, it will take me a while to record everyone. Strange about the date of death of David William Duncan. Peggy
