Thanks shellyesq. Interesting story.

Yes, Sandra, that is Nelson. Sorry for this mistake. Quite the scoundrel, I would say. He is indeed the son of Arthur Albert Delmage and grandson of Arthur Albert Delmage.  The first Arthur was married to Jane Boyd, who is the sister of my second great grandmother, Susannah E. Boyd.
Thank you for this article. Peggy

Albert Newton Delmage who went by the name Newton Delmage was born May 7,1876 in Sarnia, Lambton, Ontario, Canada. He married Rose E. Sherman in 1899 and was divorced by 1902. There is a human interest article in the July 3, 1903 edition of the Buffalo, Erie, New York newspaper that I cannot access. Can anyone help with this article?

Thank you, Sandra for these 2 obits. The MacDonalds were descendants of James McDonald and my Margaret Johnston. I wish that I could find out more about James McDonald but things are vague regarding their children. They married Dec 17, 1845 in the South Gloucester log church, Carleton Co., Ontario and had 2 or 3 children before moving to Morristown (Oswegatchie), New York. Various records alternate saying children born Canada or Morristown. Margaret died Dec 6, 1895 in Irvington-on-Hudson, New York.

Alice MacDonald nee Walter was born Oct 8, 1928 in Newark, New Jersey. She married, Hugh D. MacDonald Oct 2, 1954 in Newark, New Jersey. She died on Mar 18, 2018 in Chesapeake, Virginia before which she had been living in Cinnaminson, New Jersey.
Looking for any help with her death record or obituary.
Thank you
Peggy

Thank you very much, shellyesq. I have concluded that this Thomas Henry Duncan is a different person than Thomas Duncan, son of Thomas Duncan and Catherine Johnston. For one thing, Thomas Henry is on the 1870 census in Brockton with his mother Catherine whereas Catherine Johnston was deceased in 1856 in Canada.

I found Thomas Henry Duncan, age 6 I think, in Rochester, NY in 1850 with his mother Catherine age 34, and sister mary Jane age 9. This implies that Thomas Henry Sr. Is deceased.

I found the application for Thomas H. Duncan on Oct 30, 1882,  in Brockton, shoemaker.  In this application, he says that he arrived in Rochester, Ny in 1846, being then a minor under the age of 18 years. Says that he enlisted in the Armies of the United States and was honorably discharged therefrom on Sept 15, 1864 which agrees with the 1890 Veterans census  that we found.
