My name is Peter in Boston.  1st if Brian has not yet contacted you then you should know that he is related to you.  He is the grandson of Lilllian Dowling who I believe is your grandfather's younger sister.  Thomas Dowling  My grandfather is Robert Dowling's older brother.

Brain is a great source of information and will be happy to hear from you.  I am also happy to read your note.  I always wanted to learn more about my Great Uncle Robert Dowling   my e-mail is (*)  I look forward to hearing from you

William Dowling was my Great Uncle We lost track of him in Alaska 
In 1901 we have a photo of him at " Camp Russell on the Alaska Central North of the Divide- Gold Mining Camp
It was said that he then traveled the world  My Grandfather was Thomas Dowling 2nd son of Thomas & Sarah

James, William, Thomas & John A. came to Boston  I believe James & William came first   
Joseph went to Argentina
Robert was planning to come to Boston but his wife changed her mindso the did not come

My mother was Winifred { Dowling } Myette

Brian 1 The Photo you have of Robert Dowling is of my Great Uncle He was the son of Thomas & Sarah Dowling.
My Grandfather Thomas came to Boston around 1898.  I have some copies of letter from Robert from India and the same photo as you.  Peter

I believe That Sarah Cordial was my Great Grandmother she married Thomas Dowling of Wicklow Ireland . She would have been born around 1833 she had 13 children the first three in Ireland and the rest in England mostly in Liverpool, Her second son Thomas [Born 1864} was my Grandfather he came to Boston Massachusetts around 1898
 Her first son was Henry born in Galway  1862.  I believe that Brian1 posted a photo of my Great Uncle Robert Dowling who was in the 1st Gordon Highlanders . Peter in Boston
