Caithness / Re: Pulteneytown - Do these streets still exist?
« on: Monday 18 August 08 15:52 BST (UK)  »
Thanks Dave.

I have found the family back to "McIntosh Sutherland" c.1798 Lybster, Caithness and his wife Catherine Cormack c.1802 Lybster. I have never located a death on McIntosh and the parish records didn't show parent's names.

Catherine Comrack's death showed her Father as John NcDonald Cormack but the Mother's name was illegible.

Then as happens to so many of us a brick wall. IGI came up blank and Scotland's People I haven't searched for a while but will have another look.

Best Regards

Hi Dave

This is a while coming but Bank Row certainly did exist. My Grandfather George Sutherland was born at 6 Bank Row. His Grandmother Jessie Sutherland Nee. Bruce was shown living there on the 1901 census with her children. She had been a widow for many years by then.

George Sutherland's Mother was Isabella Sutherland she went on to marry and the wedding took place at 6 Bank Row in 1908. Her two sons were born there, the later being in 1910.

I do know it was bombed but if 6 Bank Row was part of that I couldn't say.

Last year my Grandfather's son by his second marriage also a George Sutherland (who lives in South Africa and is an elderly man) went back to try and find out information about his family. Sadly if he found anything he refused to tell both myself and his own son.

Regards
Sandra

Lanarkshire / Re: James Coventry/ Glasgow, Lanark. 1851/1861

Thank you so much, I appreciate your help.
You are right this family did seem to jump around a fair bit since on later census' the daughter Isabella Coventry was shown to be born in Yorkshire, England abt. 1861 although I have been able to find absolutely no evidence of her birth, although I know she existed because she was my Great Grandmother. It makes me wonder if the family took her in from a relative.
Thanks Again.
Sandra.

Hi.
Just wondered if anyone would be kind enough to look up two Coventry families on the census records for 1851/1861.
Andrew Coventry b. 1795. and his wife Margaret Coventry.
Also for their son James Coventry b. 1823 and his wife Isabel born 1829.
Thanks so much.
