Rutland Lookup Requests / Wiles/ Whiles of Rutland
« on: Friday 01 April 11 17:00 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I wonder if anyone can help find any details especially parentage, siblings, children and dates of the following:

Daniel Whiles born about 1680 at Cottesmore who married Sarah Lodge
Benjamin Wiles who married Mary Durham 8 July 1735 Whissendine
Edward Wiles - DOB unknown but probably around1715-20 - children Benjamin c 1742, Thomas, C 1741 & Joseph c 1745 all christened at Langham.
Edward Wiles who married Mary Frances 26 Jan 1762

They are probably all of the same family, but so far any links have evaded me.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Charlotte Foister 1817 Rearsby

Hello Mike, and many thanks for the quick response.

I came across the marriage of William to Mary Walker at Twyford, and did think at first they were the parents.  However, looking at a birth for William, and I came up with him christened 28 October, 1765 at Frisby on the Wreake, son of Solomon and Mary.  This puts him age 51 at the time of his marriage.  I have not come up with a birth for Mary Walker, so do not know her age at the time of the marriage.
William & Mary had at least 5 other children between 1814 and 1825 born at Rearsby, which would make William age at least 60 at the last birth, which though not impossible, is a little unlikely.

Research today has come up with a William born 1786 at Scalford Leicester, and a Mary (Hornbuckle) born Upper Broughton,  Notts, in the same year.  Information from the 1841/51 census.   They were married at Upper Broughton in 1812 - (Charlotte was born in 1814, according to the 1851 census, -  I cannot find her or Samuel on the 1841 census, and the Twyford couple didn't marry until 1816)

I also came across an Emma Forster (Foister) christened at Rearsby 7th Feb 1836 daughter of Charlotte.  Is there any way of telling if this is our Charlottes' daughter before she was married?

I'm not really sure how to progress with this, and advice would be much appreciated.
Many thanks, Sam

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Charlotte Foister 1817 Rearsby

I wonder if anyone could please help me with the search for William and Mary Foister?

Charlotte Foister, daughter of William & Mary, was christened in Rearsby 21 June 1817 according to IGI, and born 1814 according to the 1851 census.  She married Samuel Wiles or Whiles at the church of St Margaret  Leicester December 26th 1837.  William Foister, was shown as her father.   The address for both Charlotte and Samuel was Belgrave Gate, and witnesses were Penelope Foister (sister) and Thomas Sibson (who I believe Penelope later married)

Although I have found numerous Foisters in Rearsby and the surrounding area, I am having problems finding any further information for William & Mary.

I would be very grateful if someone could give me a little help, particularly with a maiden name for Mary.

Many thanks,
Sam
