Thank you for your input . I will now have some names to try tracing, probably during the dark cold winter evenings. I always thought I was Welsh through and through. How wrong was I ?

Devon / Geen Family Mortehoe Devon
« on: Tuesday 16 August 22 21:11 BST (UK)  »
I.m researching my Geen family in Devon (Please note GEEN not Green). I have reached John Geen Born 1742 Died 1815 Mortehoe Devon  Married Mary Brook . John Geen's baptisim names his father as Richard but there is no record of his mother's name  so I'm stuck. Does anyone here have this family on their tree. perhaps some siblings of John Geen from which i could try tracing the parents .

Caernarvonshire / Re: Major Griffith Ellis Lloyd Jones, Bettws Garmon, Caernarvon

My father used to take us to Hafoty every year to see the gardens. The house was on one side of the Caernarfon to Beddgelert Road and the gardens were opposite. The Major would often be in the gardens but I only remember an elderly man. The gardens were well known as he had a small river and waterfall running through in which were elvers that came all the way from the Sargasso Sea every year. Sadly the gardens have deteriorated badly now.

Wiltshire / Re: George White

I have a definite burial record of George White buried in Llanbeblig Cemetery Caernarfon in 1902. His wife Elizabeth pre deceased him. I can trace him in Caernarfon through his descendants my husband being his 2 times great garand son.  I have no idea who the George W White in Llandudno is although Pricilla my George White's daughter did move to Llandudno to keep a boarding house, and her brother also lived with her .
George White appears to have a multitude of birth years and birth locations which is why I am confused.

Apologies for putting George's date of death as 1906 when it should have been 1902 I have all his details in the censuses of 1861 onwards and can trace directly his family once in Wales. Its his birth place and family in England that has not been traceable up to now.

Caernarvonshire / Re: William HAMER, born 1839, Sutton Coldfield, Warks.

William Hamer was a witness of the marriage of George White and Elizabeth Summer in Caernarfo in 1862. George and Elizabeth were my husband's  2 x great grandparents. George was born in Warwickshire, most probably Aston and was described as a hawker. In my childhood there was a shop in Caernarfon called Hamer's.  Just seen the previous post about the shop. He did do well. Much better than George who remained a hawker and labourer and died in a lodging house in 1906.

Wiltshire / George White

I'm searching for any details of the parents and siblings of George White. Born Warwickshire c1838. Died Caernarvon 1906 I have his family history from the 1850's but am unable to find any exact details of his family before then  His marriage to Elizabeth Anne Summer (Born in 1839 died Caernarvon 1896) in Caernarvon names his father as a Francis White and his occupation as soldier. Elizabeth Summers was born in either the U S A or Halifax  Nova Scotia, and her father is also recorded on the marriage certificate as  a soldier.  Could the White family have been in North America during George's childhood?

Lancashire / Family of Owen E White
« on: Sunday 02 February 20 21:33 GMT (UK)  »
I'm looking for any information on Owen Easter White who died in Manchester 1937. Born in Caernarvon (Llanbeblig ) 1896.  I  have his war records but after 1918 can not find any thing else about him until 1937 when his death was registered in South Manchester. Was he married? did he leave a family ?

Caernarvonshire / Re: Summershill, Mountain Street, Carnarvon
« on: Monday 13 February 17 21:13 GMT (UK)  »
I remember Summerhill and it's location. It was between the old Seiloh chapel and Well street. You would need a pre 1960's map to find it's location
All this area was demolished when the new flyover was constructed in Caernarfon. Summerhill was a large house quite elevated from the road. It had a yard in the front where , if I remember correctly there were lorries.
I also remember a coal yard in mountain street run by Mr Owen . There was a large wooden door to the yard and Mr Owen and his son ran the business in the 50's and 60's.  I hope that's of some help to you.
