Hi Chris :),

In the words of Monthy Python's "Life of Brian";

"Blessed are the cheesemakers!" ;D ;D ;D

PS  The book also mentions the family of one of the parents at Calveley School, which I am going to pass on to her to read!  It really is a small world :)!

Rachey,

I am so happy for you :), but at the same time so sad :'(.  I bet your ggUCharlie thought he had no-one interested in him and, with a bit of luck, he might just have something to keep him going!.

Well done for having the courage to do this, with the encouragement of the lovely people on this site.

Thanks for letting us know the outcome - I have thought about you all week, waiting to see you post again

Hi Chris, :)

I have also had a chance to have a look at the copy that I ordered from the library.  In 1896, "Hugh Challinor, Beer Retailer" was an occupant of "Alpraham Reading Room."  Also, in 1865 "Robert Challinor first opened an office in the village in partnership with Mr. Singleton of the Egerton Arms" (this was in connection with Beeston Market).  "Later Mr. Challinor was to become a draper in Chester where he died in 1908, but in the meantime he was the Secretary of the Cheshire Dairy Farmers Association for eighteen years."  Does Richard fit in anywhere? :-\   Anyway, hope this is of assistance to you ;D

Hi Luzzu,

Thanks.  I am sure the stone must have been removed because it was unsafe.  I am just disappointed, because I remember going with my Dad about 20+ years ago to have a look and I don't remember it leaning at all.  Never mind  ::) - onwards and upwards.  I will contact the cemetery as you suggest and see what info they have and whether they have a record as to when it was removed.

Thanks Luzzu,

Fortunately, I have the grave no. and the Section.  My Nanna (now deceased), kept the receipts for the re-opening of the grave and the incriptions on the headstone, on the death of her sister (1924), mother (1931) and brother (1960).  I would just like confirmation that her father is buried there as well (I will have to look up when he died ;D ;D).

Hi,

Does anyone remember the "camping coaches" at Abergele, North Wales - it was the only holiday we could afford ::)  I seem to recall that we sent a trunk containing our clothes in advance by train and we collected it from Abergele Station!  The beach was awful though - all stony!
