United States of America / Re: WILLIAM WOOD
« on: Monday 21 January 08 16:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hi LesleyG

Thank you for replying to my query.

William's brother George married Jane Thompson, they emigrated to America where they both died so its possible that the marriage you have found for 1970 could have a connection to them.  There is a web site belonging to George Graham with all the details on.  I have contributed to the site with details of my ancestors.  The site is www.members.cox.net

The  George Beldon Wood birth 1889 and death 1890 was the Grandson of my William Wood, his father also William married Isabella Lunan in 1881.

Can you let me know where you found the details  about the George Wood birth 1855 and where he was living in Sunderland in 1891.

I look forward to hearing from you.

regards

Judith

Hello

I am not sure how to reply to individuals so I will reply to all.

To Janice M - Thank you for the passenger list sites.  I will have a look at them.
I have already been in touch with George Graham the owner of the web site you mentioned.  It is a very good site which I have contributed to it with my family etc.  His connection is with my missing William Wood's brother.

The George Beldon Wood who's birth and death listed on BMD is the son of William Wood (son of William and Harriet)

The birth for James Wearmouth Wood is on the IGI - parents William Wood and Harriet.  The other birth with parents Mark and Ann may have a connection but I have not come across anything so far.

I have an old photograph of a smartly dressed male - no one knows who it is but on the back of the photograph is the name and address of the photographer which is Sheppard & Daguere - 117 King Street East, Toronto.

I would like to think that he is or connected to William Wood - but who knows?

William's Parents were Ralph Wood and Dorothy Beldon.  Ralph was born around 1791 at Heddon on the Wall, Northumberland and Dorothy was born at  Lee Saint John Northumberland. They married in 1822 at Gateshead.

On the 1871 census some of William and Harriets children were living with them i.e Dorothy Jane, George Beldon, James W  (so they did not got with their  father but I can't find them on the 1881 census) and William.  They are all listed as Grandchildren.
