Yes. I think there must be a Fowlis and a Fowlis Wester, the latter of which is closer to Methven.

Its good to know where they are (thanks for the help..) now to just find out more about them!!

Do you know the name of the cemetary? It may have monumental inscriptions online (Im in New Zealand so can't go for a drive up there !)

Thanks again

Sandi

Thanks for that.
I had thought they were closer which would explain the multiple family  records in both parishes.

Perthshire / Burns in Methven and Fowlis Wester

I have a William Burns christened 25/05/1805 in both Methven and Fowlis Wester.
His parents are John Burns from Methven and Jean or Jane Stewart from Fowlis Wester.

William and his siblings An Burns b 1802 and Mary Burns b 1803 were christened in both parishes.

William married a Mary Burns who (unless he married his sister!) was from Fowlis Wester and born 1807- her parents seem to be James Burns and Lilly Menzies.

William and Mary had children John b 1829, Jean b 1836, Janet b 1840 and Mary b 1843.

I am having trouble finding any info past what Ive put above.

Given that the population of Methven and Fowlis Wester around 1800 was not terribly large I feel I should be able to trace John and James Burns and their families a bit further back.
I am interested to see if they are related - they seem very dedicated to their parishes - all christening their children in both parishes.

I can't find a map that shows me the two towns in relation to each other but I believe they are about 6miles apart.

If anyone can tell me anything more about these people, or about historical events in these areas around this time I would be very grateful. Ive struck a dead end myself.

Thanks

 :)Sandi
