I think maybe Mary is in the grave, but the inscription on the right hand side plinth is illegible and is broken by the tree trunk growing at the side of the grave.

Maybe the grave marks Charles death then as the inscription read Charles W,  *****  Beloved husband of Mary E Shipton. In which case I'm not sure when/where she died.
How kind of you to give me so much information, it is very useful.

I was aware there were lots of children and one of the clan got married twice and had 20 in all but I can't remember which one.
Levi emigrated to America and took his family with him. I do remember meeting him when he came to England in about 1958 and have a photo of him with our family.
Percy had a daughter Joyce, still living, who had a daughter Margaret who is about my age.
Interesting to see the spelling of Rebekah, Georges wife,  changed after 1871 but I am assuming it s the same woman as the ages tally.

That is amazing and fits, many thanks . Mary died in 1924. Rebekah died in 1952 the year before I was born. I would  like to find out anything I can.

The Joyce you mention, who was the daughter of Percy Crampton, is my late father's cousin and is still alive.

Have visited my family graves in Farndon and Averham and was interested to see a name I don't know anything about. On the Farndon family grave for Reuben  Crampton, my paternal grandfather and his wife Edith Rebekah  was the name Mary Shipton. No idea who she is!! Anyone have any links with this family tree?
