Thanks,

I sounds as if my 2xg grandmother Ellen Thomson (Eleanor Tompson on her marriage) could be related in some way to your Adam Thompson.

I totally agree my parents were a wealth of information & stories about the families, I've got to go now with notes I've taken from aunts & uncles & what I could remember being told.

Thanks Wildwind

The family knows nothing about the Thomson side of the family the only thing known from her death in 1914, Scotland is that her parents were Robert Thomson & Helen Aitken (Aiken).

The place names for the family from births & the census records for Ireland in 1901 & 1911 have been Finkiltagh, Portglenone, Lisnagarran, Kirkinriola & Rasharkin, but not Killycoogan.

My uncle has said most if not all of our Richmond's & in-law's moved to Ayrshire from the mid 1880's with the older member's of the family moving over after 1901.

Thanks for replying.

This has been my problem. Elizabeth Richmond is my great grandmother.

The 1901 census & 1911 census records states she was 35 & 45 years old. And she was 49 when she died in Apr 1916.  Going by these it makes her born about 1867.  I know she married 12 Nov 1890 in Portglenone 2nd P Church, so this might of been the families church.

I'm looking for help regarding my 2x great grandparents children.  They married 18 Dec 1855 in Portglenone 1st Presbyterian Church.  I know by the 1911 scotland census that they had 11 children. 7 of which I got dates for through LDS all born in Portglenone, 3 I know of but have no dates & 1 I know nothing about.

The 3 are James born about 1856, John born about 1862 & Elizabeth born about 1867 (they had an Elizabeth born 9 Aug 1864 but she died between 1864-1867).  The 1 I know nothing about, my family thinks could of been named Thomas as thats the only family name not used by them,

Any help on these 4 children would be fantastic.
Thanks

Thanks Monica

I think we have cracked this one.

Eventually found Margaret Dick Wallace's death in 1934 no parents info was given by son Alexander who registered her death.  But on Robert Forrest Wallace's death states married to Margaret Dick by son Robert who registered his death.

Decided to check some births of their children some are registered with her maiden surname as Hutchison, others Dick & with my great  grandmother its Dick Hutchison.

I now definately don't think Margaret's parents where married. I do think that the Archibald Hutchison, slater found in the 1851 census was her father & Margaret Dick was her mother.  That was Margaret Dick's death in 1861.

About the Johnstone surname I can only surmise that maybe she was seeing someone of that name before her death or Margaret was trying to cover up her illegitamacy.

Thanks for all the help

Thanks Monica

I always wondered where the Dick middle name came from as another of Robert Wallace & Margaret Hutchison's children James has Dick as a middle name.  I knew where the Forrest middle name came from as Robert Wallace's mother was a Forrest.

I agree with you I don't think Margaret's parents ever married.  I wonder where the Johnstone surname has come from that she put as her mother's maiden name.

Will have to look at Margaret's death to see what that says regarding her parents.

Thanks sancti

I found that birth in 1859 but its for a male child.  Will try the death in 1859.

Monica, that was the census I found, but when I did a bit more digging that was when I found it was the wrong Margaret & Archibald Hutchison.

Looking for any info on a Margaret Hutchison.  She married Robert Wallace in 1868 Carnwath.  The marriage states her parents were Archibald Hutchison (a slater, dec'd) & Margaret Johnstone (dec'd).  Going by census records since her marriage she was born in Douglas, Lanarkshire about 1849.

I have been unable to find any records for Margaret prior to her marriage or her parents deaths.  I thought I'd found Archibald & Margaret in the 1851 census in Douglas but that turned out to be Archibald Hutchison & his wife Margaret Howatt.

Any help on Margaret Hutchison would be great.

Martha Forrest was the sister to my 3x gr grandmother Jane (Jean) Forrest, parents Willian Forrest b. about 1798 & Euphemia Reid b. about 1802.

I know William Forrest's parents were Robert Forrest b. about 1762 & Isabel Frame b. about 1772 & that he had at least one brother Robert b. about 1794.
