Is Montrose Royal Lunatic Asylum the same as Sunnyside Asylum? I had a relative die there in 1871, contacted them as there is a museum of psychiatry there and received a photocopy of the case notes. A friend who is a psychiatrist read the notes and suggested that he probably died of meningitis and was not mad at all! Hope this helps.

My grandmother's diary has several Blacklaws mentioned and I have no idea why. Her Name was Eliza Ann Clark Barclay. She lived in Montrose till 1902. If you would like a list of namesor know of a connection would be pleased to hear.

Yes I found that one, thanks. On the register of death it also mentioned the 'hydropathic' at Dumblane. If this is now known as the Dunblane Hydro Hotel I actually stayed there on a visit to Scotland.

Written in my grandmother's diary, 'Mary Barclay, 1878 died fever hospital Stirling of typhoid aged 27yrs'. Cannot find any record of her death or the hospital. Can anyone help please?
