Thank you for the information. The person who I am looking for now is Alfreds daughter Dora Gertrude May Chivers/Jackson.Her husband was on the 1939 register with Alfred, but she was missing with their 2 children,Newby b.1934 and Andrew b.1934.Now that I know it was a register and not a census,I wonder if they were sent away to a safer place?I had thought that the Name Newby would be unusual so easy to trace, thank you for your time,Tom

hello,I have found out that Arthur Grenfell Clarke married Violet Louise Riley,or known as Louise Riley in 1980 the same year Rhoda, his first wife died.It was her second marriage as well,as she had two children.I have found a Violet Louisa Christmas marrying a Frederick Riley in Louth in 1938.could the experts have a look and see if you think that this Violet could be the same one that married Arthur.thank you for you time, tom

Hello again,do you think that Marys surname is Best or McDevitt,I do not understand in the census, that the name Best is crossed out which is confusing for me.Can I ask your professional opinion, thank you in advance, tom

Thank you Dundee and Bumble B,it could have been that Mary was evacuated there because of the war.I can only think of one other possibility, that Mary was related to Henry's wife's family.I think her family were from the area.Thank you both for your time, tom
