Hoping the following will be of interest and help:-
My wife's great-great-great grandfather was James Anderson who married Margaret Locke and lived in the Gallowgate, Glasgow. He was a stone engraver. His son, also James, was the one who married Ann McCulloch (we have she was born 8 December 1821 - confirmed by children's birth certificates). They married on 2 December 1841 and were given as living at Old Parish, West Greenock, but we think perhaps only Ann lived there. James and Ann spent their married life mostly in Strathbungo, a village which became incoroporated into Glasgow. He became Superintendent of Tolls for the Renfrewshire Turnpike Trust. Yes, their son John did die. We have that they had 13 children, 3 of whom died. Ann died 21 October, 1899. James died 15 September 1886. Incidentally, in the 1891 census of Govan, Ann Anderson (formerly McCulloch) is given along with her sister (aged 63) Jessie Russell. Kind regards, Albert W
