Kent Lookup Requests / Kelly's Directories look up requests for Kent
« on: Sunday 05 January 14 22:54 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

Is it possible to ask on Rootschat for look ups in Kelly's Directories? I'm particularly interested in Thanet, in Kent, after around 1950.

Thank you

Mary

Glamorganshire / Re: Buffalo, Wales

Sadly, Buffalo on Windsor Place is just a bar which opened in 2005.

Would be interested to see "Buffalo" written down in case it's a transcription error or just a bad translation from the Welsh, but can't think where it might be. And I know Cardiff well. Thinking the "Alo" bit might be Alaw as in Trealaw but can't imagine the Buff bit sorry!

Lancashire / Re: Question re Lancs OPC records

Thank you all for your replies!

Yes, Todmorden is very confusing re the Lancs/ Yorks thing. And I found a record last night which seemed to suggest it was in the Parish of Halifax, where usually it's in Rochdale, just to add to the confusion...

I like the 1816 marriage - a possibility perhaps. One of Grace's grandchildren by her second marriage was christened Sutcliffe, so that would be very neat if that's right.

Lancashire / Question re Lancs OPC records
« on: Tuesday 12 July 11 19:50 BST (UK)  »
Hello.

So, I've found this:

Marriage: 24 Sep 1827 St Chad, Rochdale, Lancashire, England
John Ogden - (X), Weaver of Todmorden
Grace Fielden - (X), Widow of Todmorden
Witness: D. Nield, Junr.; T. Fletcher
Married by Banns by: Ay. Wm. Eyre Curate
Register: Marriages 1827 from the Bishops Transcripts, Page 103, Entry 308
    Source: LDS Film 1545795

How do I get to look at Page 103 and what is a LDS film?

I hoping that I can get parents' names from the Banns. What are my chances?  :)

Thanks,
Mary

Essex Completed Lookup Requests / Would someone do a 1911 census look up for me?
« on: Monday 14 February 11 20:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hello. My first post here so I hope this is ok.

I'm looking for William Clark(e) and his wife Susanna(h) who lived in Colchester in 1911.

William was born approx 1855 in Tollesbury, Essex and Susanna was born in Great Holland. Their children would have included Albert, Laura, Ellen and Beatrice.

Thank you!  :)
