Dear lynfour,
After Condo's very kind help (Thanks again!!), I have managed to get the Mac to open the files. I have so far converted your Charles Tootell file to jpeg & will work though the others. It is a bit fiddly & I have no idea how to do it on a regular Windows computer.
Could your PM (private message) me with your email so I can send Charles' file (which is incredibly faint!) in its jpeg & then can send the others you would like.
I'll also see if I can enhance Charles recors at all for you at my end,
Cheers

Australia / Victoria Online digital records PROV
« on: Wednesday 25 September 13 07:32 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I have found some on-line Children Wards of State (Victoria) old sequence digitalized documents that can be downloaded on line. My problem is that I can't seem to find a application to view them. The application suggested by PROV is win/veo - which seems to be Windows only & I use a Mac.
Is there anyone out there who has worked out how to do this on a Mac (I run the current OS10.8)?
Or is there a very kind Windows person out there who could open the three documents for me?
All help welcome,
Regards

Midlothian / Re: Dunedin Street, Edinburgh - McCroban/Slack
« on: Tuesday 31 August 10 10:15 BST (UK)  »
Dear Roblin,
I am researching Joanna Slack's family.  Joanna was born 1891 in Berwick upon Tweed area, daughter of James Fallow Slack & Jane Elizabeth Richardson.  I think Henry McCroban died 1953 in Newcastle area.  James as you say, stayed in Edinburgh, married Madeline Ellis Burr 1953 & died 1995.  I have a little more information of the Slack & lots more about the Richardson connections.  Would you like to send me a person email if you would like more information,
Cheers,

Dear Allan,
I think Martha, William's wife, was born Martha Batchelor & was a widow when she married William. I will search out the detail I have on her & send them to you.

Cavan / Re: 1901 Cavan census - Knocknalosset (Knockbride parish) - LUCAS
« on: Monday 19 October 09 08:56 BST (UK)  »
Dear Les & Tyler,
I think we all all discussing the same family.  John William Lucas' youngest daughter did emigrate to Australia (& is my connection). She had a brother Thomas Robert LUCAS born 1890 Knocknalosset, County Cavan - so that sounds like your G grandfather Tyler.  I will try & do a personal message to you both so we can email,
Cheers

« on: Saturday 17 October 09 02:27 BST (UK)  »
Dear Les,
I have managed a few more snippets - but basically I am still a bit stuck:

John William LUCAS, son of John b. abt 1850 (probably baptised Church of Ireland) & died 1925
married 4 Oct 1877 Knockbride Church Of Ireland Parish Church, County Cavan
Mary Jane BODELL  b. 1852 Drumhillagh North, Knockbride Parish & died 1922

I think Mary Jane is the daughter of William BODELL (or Bodle) farmer of Drumhillagh North, Knockbride Parish who married Ann WILSON 1851 .

I would love any help to find John William Lucas' parents & to find out more about William Bodell.

Thanks for any advice or tips,
cheers,
Bron

Thank you Stan.
