Thanks Garth, I'll have another try!

Thanks downside. Never having used other programs I didn't realise that that feature was unique to FTM.

We’ve been using an old version of Family Tree Maker (v 11) for quite a few years now. The only problem we have is with the printing options. It doesn’t seem to have the flexibility that others promise. For example, when I do an All-In-One tree I would prefer the generations to be in line with each other. At the moment I get many of them correct but the odd 2 or 3 seem to be stuck further down the page so it makes it difficult to see the generation by generation view easily. (Hope that makes sense!). I’ve tried tinkering about with the options but can’t seem to change it.  I’ve resorted to taking a person, say the furthest one in a particular family, and doing a Descendant Tree. This then puts everything neatly in order.
Would it make sense to upgrade to the latest version or should we think about another program?

Carole, Heywood, Mort and Julie. Wow! Thanks to you all. I'll be investigating your ideas this weekend Maybe it's useful to post the link to where this tree has been put on to Ancestry.

Hope that works, if not the poster is:
longcroft262
I've sent a message to them via Ancestry but so far no reply. BUT, via a contact on another branch of my line I've discovered that this person is known and I've asked to pass on my email details.
Isn't life fascinating and frustrating :D

PS, just tried the link in my post and it does work.

I've come to a brick wall. My maternal Great Grandfather was Edwin Robert Southwell b 1871 in Birmingham. According to info I've received from someone down the tree, he married an Elizabeth Rebecca Carrington. They adopted my Grandfather b 1891 and had 3 more children between 1895 and 1903.
Try as I may I just can't find the marriage details. I want to do this to prove or not Elizabeth's ancestors as I think that the person who has supplied their details seems to have made a mistake with her parents etc. They have her father as a Corrington with an "O".

Carole, just to let you know that I've now followed your lead and paid for the 1911 Household info and she's living with the family who were at Hill Top Farm COTTAGE in 1881, the Gilberts, in Somerset Rd Handsworth.
Thanks again!
