Australia / Re: Death - Orange NSW - William BURTON
« on: Wednesday 10 July 19 04:16 BST (UK)  »
Hi, Have just noticed this thread.  You probably have it all solved, but in case not, Susannah Jenner, who married William Burton 1878 in Orange was born 4 Feb 1862 at Kings Plains, Blayney to James Jenner and Philadelphia nee Harvey - V18625043 121 B (they are our ancestors, too). Family researcher has been to Blayney and looked up the old records.  Susannah died 27 Mar 1884 in childbirth.#12835

Have you been able to work out the death for William? I ordered the death certificate for the William Burton who died in 1891 in Orange and this does not appear to be the same man.(Many trees on Ancestry have this record but it is not him).

Also, Susanna's daughter Dora.......I know Susanna had three girls, but her death certificate only mentions 1 daughter. All the trees on Ancestry.com show Dora dying in 1955 in South Australia unmarried however this 'Dora' was actually a married woman and not the correct lady either.

Many thanks in advance.

Simone

Sorry JM, not entirely sure what you are referring to. My transcript shows the parents listed. I have had many certificates, particularly marriages from this time period that often do not show the parents. Religion has no impact on this, i have found many that lack these details, more so in the Bathurst region as i have a number of lines of my family that i have researched from this district.

Rhonda May, It seems i cannot respond to your PM. In response to your email..........
'As on observer of PIERCE/PEARCE thread there is something in your research that does not add up.

My family is the second lot of Pierce you have typed up. I felt i should post on this thread as it appeared the original post incorrectly identified the marriage of William Pierce and Sarah Ann Butler as being that of the line that later had Zach and Jessie.

This is not the case, using Trove Newspapers will assist, the marriage notice also provides details from the SMH.

Cheers,

Simone.

The information i am about to post is information that i have verified through certificates and newspaper articles, in particular death notices which detail siblings names etc.

Sarah Ann Butler born 1853 Newtown (parish of StGeorge) was the first child born in Australia to Henry Butler and Mary Smith. She married William Pierce in 1874 in Bathurst. She was in Bathurst at this time assisting her brother, William Butler's family as he had died from tuberculosis. This couple had seven children before William Pierce died in 07 Sep 1889 at Leichardt. He was buried in Balmain Cemetery.

Sarah then remarried in Mathew Brown in 1892. She died 27 Dec 1904 and was buried with William in Balmain Cemetery.

William was born in 1845 in Sydney to Samuel H and Mary A Pierce. There is the occasional mispell between Pierce and Pearce but primarily it was Pierce.

Cheers,

Simone.
