New Zealand Completed Requests / Geoffrey Oxton Reid and Esme Froy Reid COMPLETED
« on: Wednesday 21 August 13 13:47 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I am trying to find out more about the family of Geoffrey and Esme Reid but have no experience researching in New Zealand.

I know the family, including two daughters, moved from South Africa to New Zealand and they all took up citizenship in 1963.  Geoffrey died in 1996 (possibly in Wellington) and Esme in 1998 I believe.  Geoffrey and Esme were living in Omokoroa in 1981.

Geoffrey's father was my grand uncle George Archibald Reid who moved from the UK to South Africa in the early 1900s.

What information I have gleaned was via the Ancestry website, including the names of the two daughters which I got from Ancestry by doing a citizenship search for NZ for 1963, however I understand I can not post their names here because they may well be alive.

Ideally I would like to find and get in touch with the two daughters if possible.

I must be getting old I think because when I looked online at researching in NZ I just came away feeling confused and not knowing where to start, which was a big shock after 20 years of family research.

If anyone can provide more information or offer me guidance on how I can advance my search, from here in the UK, I would be very pleased indeed.

Regards

Colin

Hi Neptune and Gwerninion,

Thank you both so very much.

The photographs are just the ticket and the grave location details will allow my grandchildren to visit the grave at some point and connect with their ancestors.

I am not ashamed to admit that I am sitting here somewhat misty eyed at the kindness of two total strangers.

The heartfelt thanks of myself and my family go to you both.

Hi again Neptune,

I am a bit slow on the uptake I am afraid.  Do you know if the grave number is an actual plot number or just the order in which the inscriptions were copied?

Sorry to be a nuisance.

Regards

Colin
