Kerry / Re: James Hennessy from Galey to Australia, Jan 1861

The Hennesseys were the landed gentry of the time and while times were tough in Ireland this family were land agents, made a significant amount of money. Land was cheap and with higher prospects abroad i.e. New Zealand/Australia/ America and most of the Hennesseys who immigrated did hansomely afterwards as they usually had a good start financially. The Gradys were also a landed family in the North Kerry area. Not everyone who left Ireland in 1830's, 40's and 50's were poor and destitute. Some left because they saw opportunity abroad and had the financial backing to do so. Keep in touch with me on email-   (*)

The Langfords owned the Post Office in Ballybunion many years ago. The OCarrolls were also business people in the town!

I believe the person u are looking for is Michael Langford of Killehenny Ballybunion who was married to a Margaret but her surname was Carroll and not OConnell.
Please research on site       irishgenealogy.ie  under Kerry and you will find out about him...he was asponsot at many baptisms one of which was also sponsored by my GGG grandmother. Enjoy!
