Carlow / Re: Robert McDowell - arrived Australia in 1838, who is his father?
« on: Saturday 20 September 25 04:48 BST (UK)  »
Hello Robert

I am also a descendant of Robert McDowell. There are quite a few of us since he and Frances Elizabeth Bailey had 14 children. I am a great-great grandson.
I have attached a scan of a document which I have explaining what is known to my family about his origins. It makes interesting reading.

I also have a couple of photos of Robert McDowell and Frances Elizabeth Bailey.

I hope that this is of interest to you, perhaps we can exchange some further information.

Regards, Michael

Hello Michael,
I have either forgotten this post, OR I have missed it totally.   Do you have the images of Robert and Frances that you could share please.  They are images that I do not have in any way shape or form.  Thank you too, for the scan of the McDowell story.  Very interesting indeed.

I have not been on roots for a very long time due mostly to working  very remotely in the Pilbara of Western Australia.

Kind regards
Bob. (Aussie Karrob)

Hello Michael,
I have not been on this site for quite a few years, sadly so.  Do you have a copy of the complete text of this page that you have shown?  Or a book title, or webpage of this information that would allow me to read the full story?

I hope, that you are well and enjoying life.

Australia / Re: The property of "Wallenbillen" NSW

Flogged,
"Wallenbillan"!  My great grandfather Matthews was married on "Wallenbillan".  That property certainly is on the west side of the Bogan River, and the mail back in the day would have come delivered via Peak Hill.

I cant help with the Phillips family, sorry.  Just confirming that the property certainly still exists, and I believe is held by the Cannon family these days.

While it has been ages (a few years) since we posted on here, we still hold our ANZAC (Kiwi) mates in our hearts, and hold you in high regard.

Karon and I wish you all well, that you are safe and well.  You are all in our prayers at this time as evening settles on your nation.  You were champs in the trenches, and so you will be here too.

Love you all
Bob & Karon

« on: Saturday 19 December 09 01:27 GMT (UK)  »
G'day Toby,
Thank you for your question re siblings of one Mary ALSOP.  I think my wife Karon may have that information in her Legacy Program.  Later today, I will ask her to take a look and see what we have and I feel sure we may have those siblings.

If we do, and the sibling/s match, I have Mary's line back to about 1540.  I would though direct you to my 7th cousin Kaye in Melbourne who has done that line of research.  Kaye is connected to me from about 2 generations back from Mary ALSOP

If you think there is a connection, I will ask you for a contact email address so that Kaye can make contact with you.

Wishing you and yours a very happy and Holy Christmas Toby.  May 2010 be a prosperous year for you in all your endeavors.

Regards
Bob & Karon

Valda,
The Surrey information comes to me via my 3rd cousin in Australia.  I believe the POOK / COBBETT marriage in Surrey was the nearest that Ann could find at the time.

Therefore we have run with that for the time being.

We shall continue the search as you suggest in Somerset

Thank you for your guidance

Alas, I have no futher information at this stage and so remain stuck in the same piece of mud  :(

It has been a while since I have reviewed this topic, I will endeavour to do so in the next few weeks
