London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Bridge Street Greenwich
« on: Sunday 02 June 19 09:21 BST (UK)  »
I realise that this is long after the original post, but in case it helps anyone else,  I was looking for 13 Bridge Street and came across this planning document.  It shows a series of maps from 1695 right through to 1994 (at the end of the document).  It may be interesting for background info and for finding the modern location.

The link is http://tvas.co.uk/reports/pdf/CRG05-01dsk.pdf

In case the link changes or is deleted in the future, the details of the report are:

"Creek Road, Greenwich, London Borough of Greenwich
An Archaeological Desk-Based Assessment "

It was dated March 2005, completed by a Steve Ford and it seems to have an identifier of "Report 05/01"

Hi, I know this post is quite old now but I thought I'd mention that I have just contacted the Friends of Mendip Hospital asking if they had details of an ancestor and got an answer back within 24 hours, the reply included details of when the burial took place and the plot location.  As previously mentioned, the actually markers were removed some time back but at least it is possible to find the area within the cemetery.

Contact details are at http://www.mendiphospitalcemetery.org.uk/ (see contacts page), they are very helpful.

Hi

I realise I'm a bit late to this party (to say the least), but I was interested to see a mention for Christopher and Caroline Mitchell.

If it's on any interest, I believe Caroline (formerly a Digby) died on 31 Mar 1852 from convulsions (epilepsy) and Christopher died on 22 Oct 1853 from being smothered in a sandpit.

I haven't had much chance to do work on the children with the exception of Matilda who married a fisherman called George Robert Dench and they moved to Grimsby.

Because of the time gap, I would guess that you already have all of that anyway.

Cheers

Chris

Hi Dawn

I've just rechecked my records for Joseph, he does show a DOB as 1812 on both the 1851 & 1861 census.  Seems like we have a match, for which I thank you.  Joseph is on my line (my mother was a Dickenson) but as I've not been able to find much on line regarding parish records pre 1837, a visit to the records office was on my long term "to do" list.

Any details you can supply on the family would be greatly appreciated, are you interested in the information I have on Joseph and George?

Regards
Chris

Hi Crystal Tips

I've only just come across your post - not bad, 7 years to find it. ::)

I have a couple of Dickensons from Plumpton (I think the 'e' and 'i' was often interchangeable), if you're still around I wonder if they link to your family?  Details are:

George Dickenson (Shoe maker) born about 1808 in Plumpton, by 1851 was living in Coombe Down, Bath

Joseph Dickenson (Carpenter) born about 1809 in Plumpton, by 1851 was living in Coombe Down, Bath

At the moment I think they may have been brothers, do the names mean anything to you?

Regards
Chris
