Rutland Lookup Requests / Re: Osborne marriage in Rutland
« on: Sunday 13 April 14 12:07 BST (UK)  »
Hello again,
In reply to your question about the last child: Margaret Ann was born about 1838 and the previous child Anne was born about 1837. All the children were born at Redditch according to the 1851 census. Maybe I shall have to do a Worcestershire look up for the marriage.

Rutland Lookup Requests / Osborne marriage in Rutland
« on: Sunday 13 April 14 10:44 BST (UK)  »
I would be grateful if somebody could find the following marriage.
John Osborne 1801-1874 of Redditch in Worcestershire married Ann (surname unknown) who was born in Uppingham about 1798. Their first child Caroline was born about 1828 in Redditch so the marriage would be about 1827. John and Ann may have married in Rutland so I would like to try that county first.

William Scott, were you expecting to see the King's Head sign on your visit? I don't think the property has had that name since Victorian times. I have lived in the area 77 years and have seen the demise of several pubs but the King's Head was not one of them!

Lincolnshire / Re: Another New Year search for the LILL family of Lusby and Louth

Victor Harvey, the 2nd Michael Lill you mentioned (1820-1876) was married to Ann Harrison (1814-1900). They were married in 1856. That Michael was the son of Joseph Lill (1780-1856) and Mary Riggall (1786-1874).

Hello Carole W,
Having read your message, I had another look at Mary in the 1851 census and I agree - it doesn't look like a 'W'. Sorry about the delay in replying but I forget easily.

Thank you Carole. I will tell you what a I know about John Everett, his wife Mary, and their family. The four children -all daughters - were born in Market Rasen (where their father was a miller) between 1810 and 1820. John moved to Middle Rasen between the birth of the last daughter about 1820 and the 1841 census.
All four daughters were married and living in Hull in the 1851 census. That census shows their mother Mary, now widowed, was living (or staying) with Louisa and her husband Stephen Newborn who was the manager of a starch works. Their home was 3 Starch House Lane, Sutton, Hull. Mary's age is 71 and she was born at Donnington. There are two Don(n)ingtons in Lincolnshire - D.on Bain and D. in Holland.
I thought it reasonable to assume that John too had finished his days in Hull but I cannot prove it. I have been unable to find a John Everett marriage in Lincolnshire and I do not know Mary's surname.
I would welcome your comments.

In the 1841 census, John Everett (a retired miller) was living at Middle Rasen in Lincolnshire. I think he must have spent his last days in the Hull area where 3 of his married daughters were living.
The daughters were:
Mary, married to John Daniels, millwright
Bessey, married to Robert Daniels, millwright
Louisa, married to Stephen Newborn, manager of starch factory
I would appreciate any help to find out when and where he died in Hull.

Hello,
I have a Michael Lill born Lusby 28 May 1820, son of Joseph & Mary. He died at Sloothby on 22 Mar 1876.
He married Ann Harrison in 1856 in Horncastle registration district.
She was born in 1814 at Holton le Clay and died at Sloothby in 1900.
All the places are in Lincolnshire. Do you want details of Michael Lill's parents who were Joseph Lill and Mary (Riggall).
Ivan.
Researching Shacklock, Baker, Sharpe, Brumpton, Pickering - all in Lincolnshire.
