Mayo / Families from Ballina, co.Mayo
« on: Friday 26 June 15 05:56 BST (UK)  »
Charles McDermott was born in 1873 in Ardnaree, Ballina;
son of Thomas McDermott & Bridget Mullowney - his wife was Mary "Annie" Regan born in 1874, Bohernasup, Ballina, Mayo; dau. of Martin Regan & Bridget Hennighan.
They married in 1902 New York City.
They had a child in 1903, 1904 & 1905 all in New York City.
Charles was dead by 1906; Mary Annie died in 1907... the children were looked after by Mary "Annie" sister Maggie Killoran in New York -  then Maggie's husband died. In the meantime, the Regan family moved from county Mayo to Scotland. Mary & Maggie;s mother Bridget sent for the children & raised them in West Calder, Midlothian, Scotland. I have some info on the Regan family, but would like to find more information on the McDermott line. Charles may have had a sister born around 1866 in Mayo; likely there should be more children for this couple??
Any help with this McDermott line would be greatly appreciated!!

Many of the Whitlark's in Raunds were Quakers.
There was a Thomas b.1761 son of Abraham & Ann; they were Quakers.
I have no info on Sarah.

Theses are definitely Quaker records.
Olive Gilby was born 1724 in Bythorne, Hunts John Day was of Islip & they married
at Raunds Meeting House. Her parents were William & Rebecca Gilby.
Olive died & John went on to marry Mary Abbott in 1754.
Olive & John had two girls - Mary in 1752, and Olive in 1753.
It is the daughter Olive that married William Graunt.
This Olive Day Graunt died and was buried in the Friends Burying Groud in Raunds in 1827.
She was recorded as a widow when she died.

Yes, thank you.
I do have the details of her YORK side.
I was looking for more info about the Windsor connection.
And yes, she was recorded as unmaried, but with the surname of Windsor??

Northamptonshire / Mary Ann Yorkb.1810
« on: Thursday 15 November 12 20:39 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find out the details of Mary Ann York who was born abt 1810, in Hargrave.
She died 21 Aug 1863 at Brighton, Sussex as recorded by the National Probate Calendar . Her brother George, Poulterer of Hargrave was the listed as her next of kin. The entry reads  as YORK  otherwise WINDSOR Mary Ann.
Which has confused me?
Then I have found some of her census details as :
1851 & 61 census
Mary Ann Windsor  unmarried lives @
23 Grosvenor Street, Brighton, Sussex

Then there appears to be a son William Windsor, born about 1835.
He is sometimes recorded as being born in Raunds? or Kettering or Brighton??
I am looking for a marriage of Mary Ann to a Windsor?
And a baptism for William, perhaps listing his father.

Now you can understand the frustration with this group!
I haven't found then in 1881 either, but one daughter was born 1886 in lincolnshire so maybe they were in transition??
