Hi there,
My GGGrandfather Thomas Boyland migrated to Australia sometime in the 1840-1850's.  On his papers he names his parents as John Boyland and Charlotte (nee Quigley) of Moss, Magee, co. Antrim.  He was born c 1814. Had a brother John and 2 sisters Elizabeth & Sarah.  All migrated to Australia.  Thomas sailed with a cousin Sampson Courtney Boyland whose parents were John Boyland and Jane.  Sampson is only recorded as have come from co. Antrim.

To date I have been unable to trace his line or the location "Moss".  Wondering if it could have been the name of a farm in those times.

Can anyone enlighten me further?

Cheers

Hi there,
Can anyone help with information about the above couple.
Other than their names and Michael's occupation as bootmaker, I don't have much to go on.
Their daughter Kathleen (b c1894-97) was my Grandmother. She migrated to Australia in 1926.  She was employed as a domestic for a Dr. Breen of Coliemore Road, Dalkey.  I know nothing of her parents or siblings except that by 1911 they had all passed away.  I have found names of Michael and Kathleen in 1901 Census, with her grandparents, Philip and Catherine.  In 1911 only her name can be found, living with an Aunt Jane.
Any ideas on where to start.  Very difficult to get info from Australia.
Cheers,
Cathy
