Lincolnshire / Re: Ward Family - Louth

I did find a birth record for a William Ward, parents John Ward and Charlotte Pindar/Pinder who was baptised what would appear to be a week or so after what we have assumed was his birth date.  Only its in Thetford, Norfolk... I did see John and Charlotte Ward in the 1841 census in Ely Cambridgeshire with a Hannah and Charlotte and John.   He was listed as a Glass Dealer and born in Lincolnshire.  My gut tells me this is them.  But no certain proof...

Why would they have left William up in Louth?

Will the Lincoln Family History Center have the microfiche of the birth records, marriage records, etc to view rather than transcriptions?

Eilleen:  I saw in your signature that you research the Pindar/Pinder line?  I have quite a few questions for you?  Should I start another thread?

woo hoo, thats a good start at pointing the direction on my question as to whether this was our William.  THANK YOU!

So, I guess the thought then is that William and the younger children were possibly NOT born in Lincolnshire, but somewhere else?

I cant thank you enough!  We are coming to England in April.  I was hoping to get some questions answered and at least be pointed in the right direction before hand!  I cant thank you enough!

Thank you for this information!!!!!!  It only makes my search more confusing.  This is what I have actual documentation for:

William Ward's marriage liscense in Wisconsin Lists John Ward and Charlotte Pinder as his mother and father.
I have the census from Waukesha on their first arrival.
I have William Wards obituary (A large article in the paper, since he was a major contributor to the community) that gives his home/birth place as Louth, Lincolnshire.

I have letters from John to Charlotte while he was traveling out to Oregon.   He was a glass dealer and died in Troy New York, on a job (He was the dealer who helped furnish wealthy customers from New York building their Victorian mansions, with glass windows, etc - story is longer, but shortening it up here).  He died in Troy, before returning home.

Thats what we know.

The date you gave me of the ward pinder marriage is the same as what I have.

My only question is where is William?  He was definitely born in 1835?  Is there a reason his baptism wasnt recorded?  What about the children following him?  Could they have been in different locations and we just got the Louth wrong?   Any ideas!

Lincolnshire / Ward Family - Louth

I am looking for a Ward family from Louth Lincolnshire:

John Ward b: abt 1807 married
Charlotte Pinder b: abt 1806

children: John Ward b: 1825
William Ward b:  1835 Louth (or so we believe)

possible other children:
Hannah b:  1837
Charlotte b:  1846

Possible sister (or sister-in-law)  to John:  Lucy b:  1811?

The immigrated to the US in 1848
Some say John Sr was a glass dealer

found an 1841 Census that would put the family in Ely Trinity in Cambridgeshire, but without William (6/7 at the time).  There was a WM Ward living with a family in Isle of Ely Cambridgeshire in 1841, but with a Hopkins family.  Also a Wm living in Louth with a William and Mary Plumtree?

Any suggestions?
