I always thought that the great ‘expert’ and historian on the Ismay family was my dear friend Chris BULL (Mrs) Nee Ismay – Manchester. (With family links to the White Star Line)

I am aware that she amassed a huge amount of information and data – not only on the Ismay name – but also many of the tangential family names.

Sadly, she died some years ago – no doubt taking with her that extraordinary wealth of information.

She also undertook research upon behalf of Durham University and Durham Record Office.

It is hoped that she will still be remembered by someone perusing this site.

Further - for those interested in this name:

Alice was the first wife of Matthew - he re-married to Elizabeth Ramsay on 6.6.1804 at Boldon (County Durham)

Alice was burried on 6.5.1803

Hello Sarah

I feel sure that the 'gaps' you express can be filled.

The 'Family' go quite a way back - but not that many people are researching - perhaps because the name is not very prolific.

Being unsure just how much you have - it is a little difficult to know just where to start. Do you for example know of the period they lived and worked at Cornsay ?

Prior to the family leaving for Wales - the main 'Patriarch' was William Henry MORALLEE....

I will need to look at the tree just to see 'our family connection' - my grandmother was Mary Morallee -

To make it easier - just ask for details of your gaps

Good !

Its an interesting family - and with quite some history.

How far are back - or - up todate ?

I may even have a photograph of your Grandfather  - do you know what happened to them after their return to the North East

Hello Sarah

If this is your 'family'

We are related.

I note that your entry was quite some time ago - and wondered if you were still re-searching.

Regards

Jeff
