Thanks ev - that is the one for her later child yes - useful site link thanks - I cant see anything else for her on there ... I will maybe try some further name variations as they seem to spell both names differently on some of her records

I checked the marriage and death certificates and states illegitimate so no further records there - they moved to England and he became a police officer so I will try and see if there are any records that end - thanks for the ideas - I will be following up on these and hope they bear fruit!.

Hi - I am wondering if anyone could advise if there are any resources at all that could be explored where have a birth record showing an illegitimate child - to try and find the father. I have Robert Platt Hay born 20th Feb 1874 in Lesmahagow to Elizabeth Platt. (Birth record speclling as Robert Pleat and Elizabeth).
In researching the family I can see that Elizabeth has other illegitimate children and one birth record has a Register of Corrected entries noted - which shows a court summary naming the father of that child... I am hoping there may be some resources I can check with regards Robert Platt Hay?
Does Anyone have any advice? ideas?

Thanks everyone - this is great help - everyone has been great

@Hallmark - I realise I was narrowing my focus on family searches in Ireland thanks - I will widen that out!

@Heywood - the witness names were not linked in any way I could tell but I will check the certificate again on that one!

@Fidlerslass - I need to check the certificate again as both families lived in Nelson Street in 1863 at the time of the Marriage so that John reference could be key. Also the Jacobus looks interesting - my link to George and Susanna is Jacobus (James) Davison born 1865 so there may be family names linking there....

Thanks! - I have trimmed it down to a possible 6 from the 13 - based on age range. 2 don't have images and the rest all show as farmers ... 5 of them from Newry and 1 Lurgan... no one known from the witnesses... will keep digging! I can't see any birth records for a Susanna (or even just a McConville) from 1840 - 1845 to try and narrow the search...

Nothing on Pensions. I can see Peter McConville (different spelling) on the original death search you recommended but there are 13... not sure how I could link him to Susanna...

Thanks - this branch is proving really hard to get anywhere with! no Peter - I wonder if he moved country as well...

Thanks I can look there for Susanna's father Peter as they were from Ireland - and he was alive at the time of marriage - I just wouldn't know if he was the right one as there are a lot of labourers... ?  George was from Scotland...
