Hi Kevin

Thank you for replying to my post and giving me that information on Albert.  Yes I would be interested to know a bit more about Edith and how you fit into the tree.

I look forward to your reply.

Hi Louise

Yes I have tried that but there are still gaps missing from the online records also I notice the last quarter is missing off quite a few of the records.  I noticed someone had found a grave on an earlier request and thought maybe someone could help me with cemetery records.  Never mind I will have to try and think of another way round this.

Essex / Brightlingsea Look Up - WICK
« on: Thursday 18 June 09 21:21 BST (UK)  »
I am hoping someone will be able to help me locate a grave for Albert Thomas WICK born in 1882 in Colchester but was living in Brightlingsea.  I don't have a date of death I was told it was 1958 but Colchester Register Office tell me they have no record of him dying in 1957, 1958 or 1959.  I have contacted Colchester Cemetery where his brother and parents are buried but he is not there.  As he was living in Brightlingsea I presume he is buried in that area. I'm guessing he died between 1950 and 1960.

I know it's a very tall order but any help would be appreciated.

Regards
Lindy

UPDATE - After searching for a while today I managed to find the year Albert died 1969.  He lived to the ripe old age of 87.

Hi Justin

A very big thank you for responding to my request and supplying that information.  I will pass this onto my friend who I am sure will be equally grateful for the help.

Thanks again

Europe / Polish Immigrants to Portsea Island
« on: Tuesday 09 June 09 18:43 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to help a friend with their family search for relatives who came from Poland.  The earliest I can find the family is on the 1871 census living in Portsea.  Jacob Fineberg/Feinberg/Fienburg (surname variants as recorded on various censuses).  His wife was Kate (maiden name Laventhall/Levanthal).  On the 1871 censuses the children listed are Aaron c1864, Fanny c1867, Mark c1868 and (Isaac) David c1871.  Other children born later were Leah Betsy c1873, Lily c1879.  Jacob was a travelling hawker of jewellery.  Both Jacob and Kate were born in Poland but the children in Portsea.  I need to know how I can find out when they arrived in the UK and also marriage details from Polish records.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

His first wife was a widow Edith Firmin (nee Martin). Married on 2 Feb 1913 in Brightlingsea, Tendring district.

If anyone can find second marriage details for Albert I would be very grateful.

Many thanks

Thank you Carole I'll have to check out find my past.  Unfortunately Colchester Register office have not put online their archive information like my local office in Cardiff so without the exact dates they won't search for you.

04 Feb 2009 - No longer required I found the second marriage on ancestry and have requested the marriage certificate.

Essex Lookup Requests / Colchester Marriage Look Up
« on: Wednesday 12 November 08 21:20 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help with a marriage look up for Ernest Miles Wick in Colchester?  I have found his first marriage to Jane Letitia Ricketts in 1912 but am interested in any other marriages post 1934 after Jane's death.   When checking with Colchester Cemetery I found he is buried with Alice Esther (Wick) who I assume must be his second wife and his first wife Jane is buried with his mother.  His first marriage was at Colchester Register Office so I am assuming any subsequences marriages would have been too.

Many thanks
