Her family originate from Northamptonshire and her siblings born in numerous places.I believe there is a famous family of Clayton's that worked the canal boats around Birmingham.Good Luck. Serge.

Hello Galiano. If it`s of any interest to you I have the Jubb family in my Bell family tree.Although my Jubbs come from the next county Nottinghamshire it is only about 25 miles from the nocton area of Lincs. Here they are anyway I hope they help.William Bell b 25th Nov 1667? in Clarborough, married Elizabeth Jubb b 1678 at Clarborough on the 23rd Dec 1707 at Clarborough, she died 5th April 1728.
Her family were William Jubb and Margaret Stow.Sorry no birth dates, but they were married the 30th Nov 1676 at North Wheatley,Notts.I`ve not researched anymore with this family yet. They may not be any relation, but who knows you may come accross them in the future. All the best with your holiday and research in May.

Serge.

Norfolk / Re: Norfolk families heading for Yorkshire - anyone?
« on: Monday 21 February 11 11:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hi There. There was also a large influx of East Anglian people who came to Burton-on-Trent from the early 1860`s to 1920`s,they were known as "Norkies",although most of them came from Suffolk. They were employed by the many breweries here, and stayed from Michaelmas until Easter.Employed mostly as Maltsters because of their strongness acquired working the land. The brewery reps would recruit them in local pubs, and pay for a one-way train ticket, then if they stayed till Easter they would pay their ticket back and also give them a bonus. My own G.Grandfather did that and eventually my Grandfather Burton Aldous(named after the town)born in Peasenhall in 1878 came here along with his brothers and settled as did many others. There are still a lot of east anglian names left in the town, but alas no more Aldous my cousin being the last one left for Australia in the 1970`s.

Hi Essenchill.I think your photo is from the mid 50`s judging by the clothes they are wearing.Did you notice the reflection in the left hand window,it looks like a "Char-a-banc" to me.It`s possible the lads have stopped off at a half way house, and have just borrowed the lady for the photo (she looks a bit embarrassed). All the years I worked for breweries (hic) these days out were called "Jolly boys outings" assuming this is what they are. As well as being interested in genealogy I also used to collect beer labels,so I am including a scan of a Hull brewery label from the 50`s.I hope this is of interest.

Cheers Serge.

Suffolk / william aldous of stradbroke 1775
« on: Saturday 22 January 11 21:45 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there. Can anyone in Stradbroke help me? I am at a crossroad.I am looking for William Aldous born 1775 in Stradbroke. There are two that could be mine One was christened 21st dec,and the son of Stephen aldous and Catherine Daniel, and the other one was christened 15th dec,and the son of John Aldous and Honour Meen. The one I am looking for married Elizabeth Honeyball on the 12th Oct 1801,but which one is it?The only clue I might have is a Thomas Aldous was the witness, could this be his brother in which case that would make him John and Honours son.He was buried 15th Apr 1861.I am fast running out of fingernails. Many thanks Serge.
