Hi
Robert Ebdon was buried 01 Feb 1871 St Mary Newington, he was residing at 4 Holcomb Buildings and his age at death was recorded as 95, which makes his birth date around 1775/76. Though like the census returns, his year of birth could be anything. He was married to Fanny, though he real name was most probably Frances. She died in 1848 and was buried on 05 Dec St Olave in Southwark.  She was living at 1 Vinegar Yard (by the present day site of London Bridge Station), which was the same address as Robert who was registered as a widower in the 1851 census. I can't find their marriage details or their birth details, though Robert was born in Devon, Tiverton or Exeter depending on which census you read. Neither Tiverton or Exeter are close to each other so take your pick as to where exactly.

Hi Robert. My great-great grandmother was Elizabeth Ann Radford 1831, daughter of Isaac 1808. I have traced the lineage back to Isaac 1718, via Joseph 1785 and Isaac 1749 but unable to confirm his birth or baptism date. He was married in Kentisbeare 1743 to Alice Saunders. Happy to provide the information I have for the ancestors between. All my information has been verified through a lengthy visit to the Exeter Records Office last year. I would love to have any details for Richard Radford 1642 and John Radford 1687.
Kindest regards
Rob Tidbury

Thank you, Ronan, that info certainly seems to tie up with what we have - it looks as if John and Isabella Kelly are part of our tree. I had given up hope of adding any new names, so I am very grateful, it has been no easy job. Can I ask what your great grandads name was?
Many thanks
Mary

Hi Ronan
Margaret McManus was my x3 great grandmother and I have very little on her, but what I have I am happy to share. She married my x3 gt grandfather John Kimmins (the family name is actually Cummings!) in Ballyclog Church of Ireland church 21 Oct 1858. The family is all Catholic so have no idea why they married there. On the marriage certificate her father is given as John McManus, labourer and the witnesses were John Donnelly and William McManus. in the 1901 census John and Margaret Cummings were living in house 15 North Street Stewartstown, John was 76 and Margaret 73, giving a birth date of around 1828 for Margaret, birthplace is just given as Tyrone. That is all I have! Does this tie in with your Margaret Mc Manus? Best wishes, Mary

No links to the Devlins or Forbes that I know of, but by coincidence my mother Bridie is a Devlin from Stewartstown also.  Her mother was a Devlin, Tash (Catherine) Devlin whose mother was Bessie Devlin.  Her mother was wee Granny Devlin who was born Katherine McKee.  But it is a terrible job trying to unravel Devlins isn't it?

Let me know if there is anything else I might be able to help you with.  I have run into a bit of a wall  myself and know how frustrating Irish research can be!

I do have relatives living there, but they ask me for information about the family tree!  They all know where they come from, they don't seem to feel the need to research any further!  The best thing to do is to look at the church records - the priests I spoke to when I was there a few years ago were very helpful and happy to let me look at the registers.  Where are you based? - I live near Bath in England.  My brother and sister had dna tests done and we posted the results on family tree dna - have you had any done?

Hi, I've never heard that saying though I'll ask my father Dermot Cummings if he has.  His father was Henry Cummings, born 1906 son of James Cummings and Ellen McGrath.  James' parents were John Cummings and Margaret MacManus - they are living in Stewartstown in the 1901 census.  Have you looked at the census at all - it is a great resource that is free; www.census.nationalarchives.ie.  You can look for 1901 and 1911.  There seem to be very few Cummings about that area -even fewer that are Catholic like my family.

I would be interested to hear if you think there is a connection,
best wishes
Mary

Pepa, are you by any chance looking for Fergusons from Gortatray near Stewartstown county Tyrone?  I know a Desmond Ferguson (he married my great aunt). His family history was very complicated and I know his mother went to either Canada or the States when he and his twin sister were very young.  I am happy to give you what little info I have if it might be of use.
