Mayo / Malley family castlebar mayo
« on: Friday 25 July 25 18:00 BST (UK)  »
Hello.

Wondering if anyone can help me please.
I have found on the census from 1851 and 1861 in England that my relative was born around 1796 in Castlebar, Mayo.
His name is Michael Malley. I’m not sure when he came to England, but he got married in 1825 in Newport Hampshire and remind in Portsmouth for rest of his life.

Are there any records i can research to go back any further please.

Thanks
Lisa

The Common Room / Farmers weekly

Good evening,

I have been to visit an elderly relative today and have enjoyed many stories she has told us.

She mentioned that one of our ancestors was in the farmers weekly and there was an article and a photo.

Does anyone know if you can research the farmers weekly.

Thanks
Lisa

Devon Lookup Requests / Re: Minnie Stroud
« on: Wednesday 20 March 24 21:04 GMT (UK)  »
I have just found Minnie on the 1921 census with her husband and she has listed herself as Florence Minnie Thomas.

So maybe that 1881 census is correct.

Also just found on the GRO website that Minnie and her husbands second child Henry James. His mother’s maiden name is down as Parker. And his elder sister and two younger sisters are listed as maiden name of mother as Stroud. (One says Strout, but think may be wrong)

Thank you all for your help.

Don’t think I will know her parents names or her name really.

So yes the information I have is

Birth certificate 1864 says parents are James Stroud (sailor) and Mary Ann Parker

Marriage certificate in 1883 from GRO lists no father.
Marriage from find my past says father Henry Stroud (artist).

In 1891, 1901, 1911 census she is down as Minnie Thomas (her married name)
But in 1921 she is down as Florence Minnie Thomas.

And believe she died in 1930 listed as Minnie Thomas.
Will order her death certificate.

Thanks
Lisa
