Lancashire Completed Lookup Requests / Re: 1861 - Blackpool - Bampton - Lookup Please

Hi Mike,

Many thanks.  It looks like he may have founded "Father Bampton's Poor School" on Talbot Road, Blackpool and so it's likely to be him.

He is the brother of my husband's ancestor Augustus Hamilton Bampton (still looking for AHB in the 1841 but no success).  I do have the stethoscope article and he certainly was interesting.  A sister named Sarah Findlay Bampton may also have converted to RC as she was teaching at a convent in 1851.

I haven't yet discovered the source of all those middle names.

Once again, many thanks and much appreciated.

Paula

Hello,

I am wondering if it would be possible to request a lookup for the following person in the 1861 Census?  He is a Roman Catholic clergyman, possibly living in Blackpool:

Bampton, George Ewsters Leopold born in 1815 in London/Middlesex.

Thanks in advance,

Paula Mc.

Hi Kerry,

I have just looked at an article regarding George.  He was ordained as a sub deacon in 1841, following instruction at Prior Park near Bristol.  Maybe he wasn't in Plymouth after all.  Thanks for all your efforts - it was great you were able to find Elizabeth.

Regards,
Paula

Hi Kerry,

Many thanks, much appreciated.

Sarah and Augustus appear in the 1851 Census (Sarah as a teacher at a convent in Loughborough and Augustus in Cornwall working as a civil engineer).  Mary may be deceased.  In 1841 George was a doctor and supposedly still in Plymouth.

Regards,
Paula

Mary Bampton daughter born 1813 in London/Middlesex.

Sarah Bampton daughter born 1815 in London/Middlesex

George Bampton son born 1816 in London/Middlesex.

Augustus Bampton son, born 1823 in London/Middlesex.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Carole and Mo,

Many thanks for checking - looks like his 1851 whereabouts continues to remain a mystery.

Hello,

I am looking for Christopher Higham and any other members of his household in 1851, probably in Blackburn.

He was born in 1825.

In 1861 he is living at Strawberry Bank/St Andrews Street and there were at least 3 Higham families in a row there.

Unfortunately he may be indexed as "C. Higham".

Thanks in advance,

Paula Mc.
